With No Other Donations, Brooklyn GOP’s Only Fundraising Comes From Bloomberg in 2011

February 1, 2011

Still the one! In a parade setting, the look on Eaton's face says it all: pride--and arrogance. Yet, Bloomberg is still footing his bill.

That number would be somewhat impressive for a county GOP fundraising in a short, non-election period. But what if that $50,000 was a single contribution and it was not earned by any other means than a political deal?

With the embarrassingly late (and just plain embarrassing) campaign disclosures of the Brooklyn GOP, we find this to be the case, as they show one sole donation from none other than Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Let’s not forget, this is the Michael Bloomberg that has supported raising taxes, failed to lead the city out of a snowstorm, proposed congestion pricing, and bares absolutely no resemblance to the ideal mayor both Republicans and the citizenry at large expect from a municipal executive (did I mention he proposed a third term for himself against the will of the people?).

Yes, that Michael Bloomberg.

The Michael Bloomberg whose ring Brooklyn GOP Chairman Craig Eaton literally tripped over his fellow citywide GOP leaders to kiss first. This was when Eaton was supporting his bid for the party’s Wilson Pakula, which was bought and paid for–not even for a decent price or genuine ideological support of the party’s mission.

You will recall this was one of the very first stories featured on our blog.

Now, here we are, as the Primate of the Church of Political Failure attempts to keep his shriveling party together as schism and rancor among his own ranks have broken out. As previously reported here, this is largely the product of yet another year of utter failure on the part of the GOP “leadership” to gain a win in any race borough-wide. More recently, party dissension has also the resulted from the rumored appointment of Brooklyn political neophyte Karen Fischer, who is believed to be taking the paid position of Executive Director, which has not been formally announced. This has caused some tension as some believe Ms. Fischer was selected over supposedly more experienced GOP insiders.

It is with this background that we now learn the party has not raised a single penny in its primary account besides the $50,000 given by Mr. Bloomberg on January 19, 2011 (as reported).

It is telling that during a time when so much animosity and acrimony have permeated the GOP atmosphere in Brooklyn between the status quo Republicans and the reformers, Mr. Eaton has failed to raise anything beyond the fruits of his fateful political prostitution in support of the Mayor’s re-election.

Moreover, it is somewhat ironic that Mr. Bloomberg gave Brooklyn these funds while the GOP’s own “sponsored” blog talk radio program bloviators have been bashing him for his liberal agenda and failure to handle the blizzard of 2010.

This only goes to show the moral bankruptcy of the small platoon of idiots that constitutes Mr. Eaton’s pathetic syndicate. It is no wonder that things are falling apart for this lame Bay Ridge Cabal…

In the end, I guess we can all breath a small sigh of relief. At least this means there will be more cocktail parties and wasteful spending in the near future.

It wouldn’t be the Brooklyn GOP without those things.

This week Atlas Shrugs in Brooklyn will explore some of the more egregious disclosures and what they mean for the party and the reform movement.

The Brooklyn GOP establishment has held up its “money in
the bank” as a signal accomplishment of Eaton’s recent tenure as
chairman. In reality, like so many other things about Eaton’s
regime, the residue that remains on deposit sticks out like a sore
carbuncle. This “mere bauble” stands out as the physical
manifestation of an internal rot that is the essence of the Eaton’s
KCRP during “… this winter of our discontent.” With this
disclosure, any such “donation” can’t be viewed as an installment
on a just debt of longstanding, because it now stands as a monument
and legacy of a cheap sell-out of Brooklyn’s Republican Party by
its recent leadership. Among other things, 2011 will be a battle of
images. The old photo above is one such image, “Craig Eaton –
    Bloomberg’s Guy – Bought and Paid-For, Cheap”.

Eaton- whatever happened to those “regular” meetings with the Mayor that you publicly spoke about and told executive committee members about to help justify our endorsement of Bloomberg??? What happened?

This post is yet another reason why change is needed in the chair’s post. One donation for an endorsement, no meetings with the mayor as promised, no winning campaigns (golden don’t count, malliotakis won in SI, and eaton supported allegretti not grimm and to this day eaton has little relationship with grimm because of that), friction in the ranks because of a poor executive director choice and leaders like clorinda, elaine and phyllis pissed, no new blood in the party, Golden being the only one propping up Eaton, a chair who is joked about nehind his back across the state because of his lack of political savvy and endorsements (Allegretti), and ego and attitude..

Looks like this post and comments have eaton apologists very defensive. Notice how they never address the questions and just cut and paste comments and change words as I’m sure they will do here. By the way craig- how’s the meetings in other parts of brooklyn going as you promised?? I really hope clorinda, elaine, and georgea follow through on their conversation from 2 days ago.

  4. Eaton Has No Donors permalink

Eaton has no power base of donors. He has a lowly, disheartened gang of losers who throw tidbits to Golden and Eaton but have most likely lost complete confidence in the Chairman.

And why would they have confidence?

Eaton just keeps losing and has brewed so much dissension by being such a misanthrope. Very sad.

He’s doing a fine job of turning the Brooklyn GOP into a House of Ill Repute. Let’s just hope, for the sake of true professionalism, it’s as good for Bloomberg as it is for Eaton.

    Craig- just go.
Clorinda was saying how psst she is at craig for bypassing her son for a big raise at BOE and is hoping a deal with another chairman will chanhge that.

Russell Gallo is such a moron. Why does Craig even tolerate his stupidity? Then again, to him, Russell must be “intelligent” conversation hahahahaha

A supposedly grown man who writes commentary and uses the expression “Weinership” is not worthy of anyone’s vote or attention from Republicans. This man has no grasp of politics beyond what’s been fed to him by the Bay Ridge establishment. He’s just like Gene, Russell, and Cipriano: Truly pathetic.

    So let’s get this straight:

Russell, Gene, Brian, Peter, Karen, Craig, Gerry, Clorinda, Phyllis, Elaine, Marty, and Bloomberg are all wrong and you anonymous bloggers are right?

Get real guys. You attack anyone not in the “Judge Camp.” It is clear for all to see.

Oh yeah, And we should follow: Judge- could not make ballot
in a nonpartisan Special Election. Sanctioned the challenge of
signatures of a fellow YR that did make the ballot. Hayon- never
worked for any Republican except himself. Never paid membership
dues to any club. never gave $ to any Republican candidate. is on
welfare with God knows how many kids. Ferraro- turned a Republican
leaning district overwhelmingly Democratic. has backed loser
    candidates for a decade. Regina-Potter- lost a primary to a 19 year
old kid with no resume. never broke 30% in any race for

Common factors of Judge, Hayon, Ferraro and Regina-Potter:

      1) County did not help any of their races.
      2) County helped the Democrats in all of those races.
      3) County puts their own personal issues before the issues of the Republican Party
      4) County looks for lame excuses not to help these candidates.

PS Rice is the most pathetic Republican candidate the party ever endorsed.

What’s going on with the Brooklyn GOP Establishment lately?

They seem listless and unenthusiastic like someone has been tampering with their vital bodily fluids.

We can no longer sit back and allow Eatonist infiltration, Eatonist indoctrination, Eatonist subversion and the Kings County Eatonist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids and just sit back smuggly and say we have a few bucks in the bank.

Craig- resign now before georgea and I join the insurrection with elaine, phyllis and clorinda because of your karen appointment. I would have been a better executive director as have no real job now.
