Regina-Potter and Others Flash Reform Credentials from Koch’s NY Uprising Coalition
Craig Easton–I mean, Eaton’s favorite female Republican candidate in Brooklyn (and the only one I know of besides Marty Golden-backed Nicole Mallio-who-kis) is touting her reform credentials on her website.
In a recent post, Lucretia Regina-Potter, 49th AD candidate, posted a letter from Ed Koch’s nonpartisan NY Uprising coalition, which claims to advocate “for meaningful government reform across New York State.” In it, Koch refers to her as a “Hero of Reform.”
And Regina-Potter is not alone. But one person who has not been branded a reformer is State Senator Marty Golden.
NY Uprising describes itself thusly:
Our mission is to put an end to corruption in Albany and reinstate the public’s faith in government by offering real, honest and sensible solutions that legislators and candidates can implement, adhere to and be held accountable for executing once elected or re-elected to office. New York Uprising will actively seek support for commitments to reform from all candidates seeking office during the 2010 election cycle.
Their major stated goals are: Non-Partisan, Independent Redistricting, Responsible Budgeting, Ethics Reform.
Mrs. Regina-Potter is not alone amongst the New York politicians receiving this organization’s seal of approval. However, the two others I am thinking of are either not as believable as Regina-Potter (who has staved off assault after assault from Eaton and his political assassins).
Another independent Republican woman the boys club of the Bay Ridge Cabal is going after. The last time a woman had to be this much on defense is when Lucy Lawless donned the leather in ancient times:
That hasn’t stopped Regina-Potter from defending herself against her attackers (including Democratic dinosaur Peter Abbate) or from fundraising.
Also claiming to be a reformer (it’s comical, frankly) is establishment-backed Michael Allegretti (“The Clueless One”) in the 13th Congressional District. Rather than just let the letter from Koch speak for itself, The Clueless One quotes himself and his campaign manager in praising himself for his utter greatness:
I look forward to working with independent organizations such as New York Uprising to help to reform New York State. Former Mayor Ed Koch and Rudy Giuliani are committed to helping to reform our state and I am honored to join them on this mission to reform our broken government,” said Michael Allegretti.
“Residents of the 13th Congressional District need a leader who is committed to reform. Michael Allegretti is the only candidate in this race that is showing he is truly dedicated to these types of reform, and this is evident by his early pledge to support Ed Koch and New York Uprising,” said Ray Riley, Michael Allegretti’s Campaign Manager.
Mike Grimm was also sent a letter from Koch, but I didn’t read about it on his website yet.
And then you have the mysterious Nicole Malliotakis who was also given credentials from the NY Uprising Coalition. I don’t know enough about Malliotakis to make a judgment about her, but any woman who stands in between Marty Golden and Craig Eaton don’t earn a heck of a lot of respect in my book.

One notable name missing from the list: State Senator Marty Golden. Big surprise.
We’ll see what these candidates do to maintain reform, but I have my doubts about some of them…
