49th Assembly District Candidate Lucretia Regina-Potter Receives Endorsement of Grimm and DioGuardi; “Team Up Take New York Back For The People”

We’ve received word that Lucretia Regina-Potter, Republican candidate of the 49th Assembly District, received some key endorsements at a major campaign meeting last night. Those endorsements included 13th Congressional candidate Mike Grimm and United States Senate candidate Joe DioGuardi.

One emailer told us the crowd at the meeting was “standing room only” and “overflowing.” The meeting was reportedly very successful and productive. We are still waiting on other reports (and we invite you to email us if you were there).

Now, with the Brooklyn GOP Revolution in full swing, these signs of a very muscular 49th Assembly District leadership can’t bring comfort to the bumbling fools in the Bay Ridge Cabal.

This all follows just shortly after former City Council candidate Jonathan Judge released a recruiting video for Ms. Regina-Potter, discussing the destructive Brooklyn political establishment and its effects on his own campaign.

That video is already grabbing attention in the blogosphere just hours after it’s release:

Not long ago, Regina-Potter’s campaign issued the following press release in connection with the endorsements:

REGINA-POTTER, GRIMM AND DIOGUARDI TEAM UP TO TAKE NEW YORK BACK FOR THE PEOPLE

BROOKLYN, NY — Lucretia Regina-Potter, Republican District Leader and candidate for State Assembly from the 49th Assembly District, endorsed 13th Congressional candidate Michael Grimm and United States Senate candidate Joe DioGuardi for the Republican Primary in September at a standing room-only meeting of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization in Bensonhurst Monday evening.

“Conservative independent Republicans have a tough fight in Brooklyn, but our principles will trump politics this year.  I am proud to stand with these two hardworking gentlemen as we work together to bring New York back to the people of our state,” proclaimed Regina-Potter.

Grimm and DioGuardi also announced their endorsements of Regina-Potter for New York State Assembly.

For more information on Regina-Potter’s campaign, visit http://www.LucretiaRegina-Potter.com.

Well, it looks like the Brooklyn GOP Revolution just got a whole lot more interesting.

With the Brooklyn GOP “leadership” already seeking her destruction and unleashing their resources against her to crush the 49th Assembly District’s only Republican organization, the Fiorello LaGuardia Club, things are really getting rough.

But this latest sign of strength from Regina-Potter, after a strongly-worded response to the Bay Ridge Cabal’s attacks on her and her district, must be making the political establishment rethink their plans for “regime change,” as one district leader put it.

We’ll be bringing you updates in the coming days with responses from various local Republican leaders regarding these recent political events.

So stay with Atlas!

Outreach and “Big Tent” Republicanism were the themes expressed and clearly in evidence at the Fiorello LaGuardia Club last night as it became clear that the real strength of the burgeoning 49th AD Club was its ability to adapt to its new status as an outpost in the Brooklyn Republican Revolution.

Assembly candidate Lucretia Potter talked about the role of women in today’s Republican Party and in government, launching a specific female oriented initiative as part of her campaign.

Two other newly endorsed candidates Joe DioGuardi, for US Senate, and Mike Grimm, for Congress, and discussed their diverse backgrounds as part of their self introduction to the overflow crowd that spilled onto the sidewalk of the “headquarters” at 81st Street and 17th Avenue during the speeches.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the evening, were the seven or eight Orthodox Jewish men who didn’t just attend the meeting, but were active participants. Arnaldo Ferrarro, Lucretia Potter and Jonathan Judge made pitches to that demographic subgroup; and all three stressed the importance of bringing in the Boro Park community as a key component of Republican efforts going forward. In return for the acknowledgment, the Orthodox men, who made up about ten percent of the crowd at the 49th Club, showered praise on all three candidates after their speeches.

As the fromal meeting broke up, many key members of the club congratulated Arnaldo on his ability to pull together a ticket so quickly. In reply, Arnoldo quickly stirred the pot some more by saying that he was sorry that he couldn’t deliver another big surprise before the meeting that night. When pressed, he only answered, “We have to wait, for that.”

Sorry but didn’t this group endorse Michael Allegretti and the Kings County GOP
Executive Board meeting in May. I believe they did it very enthusiastically. What has changed in less then a month?

Ladies and gentlemen, and children of all ages, my name is Professore Doctore ARNALDO, Magician Extrodinaire. Please watch as my fingers never leave my hand. Presto, voila!!! (Arnaldo waves his right hand about and shows the crowd his right hand. After a moment ther’s a murmur, but Professore Doctore ARNALDO quiets the restless crowd.)

For my next trick, do we have any volunteers? (A very pleasnt young man steps forward.

Yes, little boy, what is your name? A little louder, please. Thank you.

THE LITTLE BOY SAYS HIS NAME IS MICHAEL ALLEGRETTI, let’s have a round of applause for this brave young man– Michael Allegretti– not too much, folks, he hasn’t done anything yet.

Now Mike, can I call you, Mike– of course, sure I can. Mike, here’s the deal, you endorse Lucretia, she’s that very nice lady in the front row, and she and the Fiorello LaGuardia Club will endorse you.

      “Whisper, whisper,whisper.”

Yes, that’s all that you need to do to get this trick going.

      “Whisper, whisper,whisper.”

Can you keep it secret until after the Staten Island GOP votes? I don’t see why not. What do you say, Lucretia? She says fine.

(This trick takes a long time…much more than a week later, after Staten Island endorses Allegretti) Now, young Mister Allegretti, do you still endorse that nice lady in the first row, Lucretia?

“Whisper, whisper, whisper.” (The young Allegretti tells Arnaldo that after Staten Island and Brooklyn had endorsed him, his friends told him not to be part of Professore Doctore ARNALDO’s trick especially the part about endorsing the nice lady Lucretia.)

You don’t want to endorse the nice lady in the front row: that’s not very nice. But don’t worry, Mike, I can fix that.

(Professore Doctore ARNALDO takes out a large colorful silk scarf) I’ll put my magic scarf over Mike’s head. Abaracadabara, voila!

Mike, before I remove the scarf, let me ask you once more if you endorse that nice lady in the front row, Lucretia?

      “Whisper, whisper,whisper.”

Mike says he does endorse the lovely Lucretia. Okay, here’s Mikey!

The scarf is removed and it’s MIKE GRIMM.

The crowd goes wild, the applause is overwhelming.

Professore Doctore ARNALDO takes a deep old world style bow.

“BRAVO! BRAVO!” is heard all over southwest Brooklyn.

Confussed leans over to a friend and says, “I don’t understand, what happened?”

The friend answers, “It’s only Professore Doctore ARNALDO’s magic.”

I don’t know if that’s true…I wonder how you would know that unless you were there.

In any event, Allegretti has ties to big environmentalist groups and is in favor of cap and trade, no?

That must have had an effect on anyone supporting a guy like Grimm, who strikes me as a real conservative.

The Craig Eaton hate blogs have completely spazzed out on yesterday’s political earthquake in Bensonhurst.

Through 7:00 PM 6-8-10 brooklynpolitico is speechless about the Grimm-Potter coup in the 49th AD. Unfortunately the Jiggles the Clown crowd are not speecheless, just thoughtless. It’s the usual Tourrette’s Syndrome response from from that blog.

Meanwhile everybody involved with the Brooklyn Revolution is still doing their happy dance.

There are some non-alligned Republicans in Brooklyn, believe it or not. They have chatted me up a bit.

The universal view is that this is a win, win, win from Grimm as long as it holds. Even if he holds only 50% of the Fiorello LaG Republicans as his base in the 49th, with Giuliani and Molinari beating the mail and the robo-calls, the 49th AD is in play for Grimm.

That’s a major strategic shift in just 24 hours.

If Allegretti had locked in the Ferrarro, Lucretia Regina-Potter, Fred Marterellos, the 49th AD would be a lock in his column right now.

Bottom line– his bad maneuvering after his deal with Lucretia might have cost him big time.

Now there are some reports that Michael Allegretti had a deal with the 49th AD Republican Club, but somehow it fell through.

He’s in– he’s out. He’s committed, he’s undecided. He’s with you, he’s against you. He’s endorsed, no he’s not; yes, he is– but by whom? He’s from Brooklyn, he’s from Staten Island, he’s from Manhattan. He’s been picked by the Brooklyn leadership, no the SI GOP put him up to block Molinari’s guy, Grimm. The insurgent’s backed him, no they didn’t. There was an agreement, but it was for the future and the future never came.

He’s for Obama’s cap and trade energy policy; no he’s not, he’s Tony Blair’s advisor– but Blair supports cap and trade. Maybe he’s for a little cap and trade, just in Europe.

He’s a big tent Republican, no he’s a conservative. He says he’s pro life, nah, never not even close, anybody tells you that is a gross distorter.

In the 49th AD, he’s for Lucretia Regina-Potter; no, he’s for Peter Cipriano; really, he’s for neither Potter nor Cipriano.

Michael Allegretti just what’s he all about? Is he his own man, or is he somebody’s shill?

Maybe there’s a problem at Craig Eaton’s centralized headquarters in beautiful downtown Sheepshead Bay, because nothing is being done to foster any enthusiasm for his work in progress in Bat Beach, Peter Cipriano.

Aren’t there any endorsements that will help a race inside the 49th AD? Perhaps, the County-supported marauders have encountered some of the local Republican pride that is one of the chauvinistic hallmarks of the 49th AD City-State.

Since Cipriano’s handlers are perhaps looking to avoid overexposing their raw product to an early onslaught at the hands of the locals, they’ve turned their rookie into H.G. Wells’ “Invisible Man”, clearly making him appear to be the quintessential empty suit or one sticking with the Eaton’s outsiders– on the outside looking in.

Early petitioning news shows Mike Grimm with some good numbers in the 49th AD thanks to his LaGuardia Club endorsement. The big suprise was a first and second day sweep by Grimm’s shock troops in Russell Gallo’s home turf of the 47th.

We of the Brooklyn Republican Revolution suspect it was more significat than the “Doolittle Raid”. I guess these petitioning bombers must have taken off from Jonathan Judge’s “Shangri La Republican Club” based in the health spa on Sheepshead Bay Road or maybe they’re enterprising hornets flying from their nest in the Sea Gate lighthouse.

Eaton, quick, check the Easypasses of all the usual suspects from Staten Island. I’m sure you’ll get to the bottom of this, fast.

Lucretia, the business woman, Republican Party Leader and full-time mom, whose campaign to unseat Assemblyman Peter Abbate has caused no end of problems for the Republican–Democrat Establishmentarians in Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Bensonhurst, took time out to see her son graduate from Xavier High School at a very special St. Patrick’s Cathedral ceremony Thursday night. Friday the relatives got together for a more familial celebration for the graduating scholar-athelete.

Hats off to Christopher and Lucretia Potter and to all the proud relatives of Michael Potter.

As Mike the graduated Xavierman once famously said, “It’s a game of bragging rights as much as it is tradition.”

    Old school dedication to LRP:

Who’s that lady (who’s that lady)
    Beautiful lady (who’s that lady)
    Lovely lady (who’s that lady)
Real fine lady (who’s that lady)
Hear me callin’ out to you
‘Cause it’s all that I can do
Your eyes tell me to pursue
But you say look yeah, but don’t touch, baby

    nah, nah, nah don’t touch

Who’s that lady (who’s that lady)
    Sexy lady (who’s that lady)
    Beautiful lady (who’s that lady)
Real fine lady (who’s that lady)
I would dance upon a string
    Any gift she’d wanna bring
    I would give her anything
If she would just do what I say

    Come ’round my way, baby
    Shine my way

Who’s that lady (who’s that lady)
    Beautiful lady (who’s that lady)
    Lovely lady (who’s that lady)
Real fine lady (who’s that lady)
I would love to take her home
But her heart is made of stone
I would keep on keepin’ on
    If I don’t she’ll do me wrong

    Do me wrong, yeah.

  11. Will 7620 17th Avenue become Satellite Office for DioGuardi, Grimm and Lucretia Regina-Potter? permalink

Some members of the Fiorello LaGuardia Club were on hand Thursday night to welcome the first-time assistance of the Brooklyn County GOP in the La Guardia Clubs’ race to unseat Peter Abbate the long-time Democrat Assemblyman in the 49th AD and the Grimm Campaign against Mike Mc Mahon, as well a Joe DioGuardi’s race for the US Senate.

“You see, the Brooklyn GOP recently opened a new Campaign Headquarters for the 2010 Elections at 7620 17th Avenue in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn. [They] kicked open the doors with [some kind of] grand opening event where [a few] people attended to meet the [party’s least popular] candidates and get behind the [local]Brooklyn GOP [the Fiorello LaGuardia Club]!”

Although the main effort against Abbate will remain that of the Fiorello LaGaurdia Republican Club at its official headquarters for blocks away, the late and reluctant assistance of the Brooklyn County GOP in a coordinated general election race against Peter Abbate, Mike McMahon and Kristin Gillebrand is nonetheless appreciated.

Craig Eaton was personally thanked by a community representative for opening his “Deep Pocket” to all of the Republicans who have worked so long and hard in the 49th AD, but he was also told by that same person that he really didn’t belong there as long as longtime Republicans were being kept out of their rightful Board of Elections jobs in the 49th AD.
