Mike Grimm A ‘Conservative Warrior’ For Congress, Says New Ad, As Allegretti Takes on ObamaCare in Somber Vid
A minor development in the 13th CD race.
We noticed The Daily Politics’ post about new ads being put up online by the Grimm campaign referring to Mr. Grimm as a a “conservative warrior.” We thought it would interest those of you following the race:
The DN’s David Saltonstall spotted this Web ad touting NY-13 GOP hopeful Michael Grimm as a “Conservative warrior” earlier this week on Drudge.
The ad features a photo of Grimm from when he served in the US Marines during the Persian Gulf War and also touts his endorsement by former Mayor Rudy Giuliani (the one that was hastily rescheuled so as not to take place within the news cycle of Bernie Kerik’s sentencing).
Grimm advisor Susan Del Percio said the ads ran for about a week and only on Drudge.
Grimm is battling with fellow Republican, Michael Allegretti, for the right to face off against Democratic Rep. Mike McMahon. Allegretti has been asked by some NY-13 Republicans to abandon his congressional bid and take on Assemblywoman Janele Hyer-Spencer instead, but so far shows no interest in doing so.
McMahon has been under fire from labor unions and the WFP for voting “no” on health care reform and might face a challenge from his 2008 primary opponent, Stephen Harrison. It would likely help the GOP effort to oust McMahon if the party was able to unite behind a single candidate, but that doesn’t look likely at the moment.
We’ve also noted the Grimm site is now fully functional. Pimped out for all he’s worth is Rudy Giuliani, whose endorsement of Grimm was a major blow to the Brooklyn GOP’s anointed candidate Michael Allegretti:
Not to be undone, Mr. Allegretti has a somewhat somber new ad out that is being played on his website regarding ObamaCare:
We are reviewing their websites now and will have some more information on this race in the upcoming week.
