“The Brooklyn GOP Revolution” Has Begun

March 28, 2010

One of our commentators took it upon herself to create a video decrying the Brooklyn GOP leadership, their connections with Democrats, and their conduct in recent years.

We thought it was very much worth sharing with you.

In the video, Sarah, the creator, takes issue with many of the connections that we here on Atlas have exposed with the help of our emailers and friends, who have done a great deal of research to promote reform and expose political corruption in Brooklyn.

The connections between Brooklyn GOP Chairman Craig “The Duke of Bay Ridge” Eaton and Bishop DiMarzio are highlighted.

Allegations of secret deals between State Senator Marty Golden and Assemblyman Peter Abbate are made (conjecture of which is not new by any means, and is even considered common knowledge by most Republican insiders).

The abysmal failures of 44th City Council District candidate Kenneth Rice (lost by 97.5% of the vote) and Brooklyn Borough President candidate Marc D’Ottavio (lost by 90% of the vote) are described.

Frustrations over David Paterson and Democrat-Turned-Republican (well, sort of) Steve Levy are played up. And Mayor Bloomberg, newly elected 44th City Councilman David Greenfield, and Vito Lopez are profiled.

Candidates that have been undermined by the party are pictured, including Public Advocate candidate Alex Zablocki, 44th City Council District candidate Jonathan Judge, 49th Assembly District candidate Lucretia Regina-Potter (who ran against Peter Abbate, with whom Marty Golden has supposedly made the aforementioned “arrangements” and/or “secret deals”), and Civil Court Judge Candidate James McCall.

All of these candidates we can attest were either directly undermined or subtly undermined by the party.

In the case of Mr. Zablocki, for example, endorsements were not made publicly and allegations of angst and dislike toward him from Marty Golden minion Jeffrey Kraus were made.

Jonathan Judge was undermined in order to elevate Marty Golden’s endorsed candidate and liberal David Greenfield.

Lucretia Regina-Potter is just one of the many female candidates and GOP officials who have been rejected, expelled or undermined in the course of their involvement with the party, as Dagny pointed out last year.

And James McCall, so we’ve heard, did not receive as much support from the county party leadership as was needed in what was apparently a very winnable race.

***

So, overall, a very good job, Sarah!

We’re glad to see people like you expressing your frustration and your voice. Without that, all politics becomes tyranny. And the Brooklyn GOP would like nothing more than tyranny, it would seem.

But this is only the start. The movement against the Bay Ridge Cabal is growing because the truth is hurting them.

There is much work to be done, but the process has already started.

Stay strong!

Does anyone know how and why Marty Golden came into being?
Does anyone know how and why Craig Eaton is so important to Marty Golden?

How interesting that the same dirty deeds done to protect and fortify the Brooklyn GOP are now the very deeds which will cause its undoing.

See that Bob Capano finally grew some balls and endorsed Michael Grimm for Congress over Eaton’s boy Allegreti. Hear Eaton went ballistic.

Now you can get a job at “Marty Golden’s” Bay Ridge Key Food. Good help is hard to find these days. “Clean up in Aisle 43!”

Re: Catholic Citizens Committee PAC (or CCCP)

Who is the legal counsel of this organization who endorsed Mr. Greenfield, you ask? None other than the Brooklyn GOP Chairman, NYS attorney registration number 2026961 ?

Craig Eaton’s law firm partner, Jay Torrenzano Esq., donated money to the Obama campaign in 2008, according to public federal election money records.

    http://fundrace.huffingtonpost.com/neighbors.php?type=name&lname=Torrenzano&fname=Jay

Why should Brooklyn Republicans allow their borough chairman to share office space with Mr. Torrenzano who is apparently an Obama and Democrat Party supporter? Isn’t this cozy situation “too close for comfort?” The Brooklyn GOP chairman is in cahoots and a secret partnership with the Democrats and Vito Lopez! This is absolute perfidy. Its disgusting and a disgrace. Shameful!

The Brooklyn GOP’s HQ’s ought to be expeditiously moved to a neutral location in order to prevent any more “conflicts of interests” and even the appearance of “conflicts of interests.”

A neutral location would be a office not connected to Mr. Eaton’s law firm or any other personal or business interests or those of his business partners or clients!

By Charles F. Otey, Esq., 01-04-2008, Brooklyn Daily Eagle

“One reason, we’ve learned, is that the Brooklyn Republican Party is undergoing what observers believe to be a strong renewal under new County Chair Craig Eaton, better known in and around Brooklyn courts as a trial attorney and partner of Jay Torrenzano, with offices in Sheepshead Bay.”

My first shot in “The Brooklyn GOP Revolution” is at the real enemy.

The incumbent Democrat assmblyman in the 49th A.D., you know who Petey-Wetey, likes to say he isn’t giving away the store to the public employee unions— of course not those unions pay back handsomely— check it out…

According to the Manhattan Institute, Peter Abbate and Diana Sorvino, now there’s an odd couple, have proposed phantom credits to fatten up certain public employees’ pensions, like they aren’t fat enough, already.

Pensions are normally based on an employee’s work history, but two bills (A8226-Abbate/S5627-Savino and A7169-Abbate/S4797-Savino) would allow up to two years pension credit for UNPAID PARENTAL LEAVES [that’s right for TIME OFF, not time worked].

What will this proposed give-away cost?

For school districts, the estimated cost would be $18,700 per year of service credited per retiree, or $37,400 for the maximum two years credit. Local governments would need to spend 20 to 40 percent of salary for each year of credit claimed by eligible emergency responders who are taking parental time off, and not responding to any emergencies that you might be having. What kind of BUDGET BOMB is that?

Remember, this is all for UNPAID NON-WORK TIME— their time off on parental leave in excess of their paid parental leave. Do YOUR benefits include anything like that? I don’t think so.

Assemblyman Abbate the unions must owe you big-time for this one!!!!

It should be noted that the Brooklyn Paper puts links on its page to The Jig website. That’s because Gerry O’Brien, the purveyor of that trashy tabloid of a blog (the people who contribute and comment are trolls; they don’t even know how to spell or write complete sentences), is buddy buddy with some folks from the Brooklyn Paper.

Not to mention, if I’m not mistaken, he does photography on his off time to scrape up some extra pennies, balancing out his worthless consulting enterprise, which is about as much of a joke as the man himself. Some of those photos have appeared on TBP, I believe.

    What a sad man that O’Brien is…

    A relic.

    A slob.

    A nothing.

It must be the scariest feeling in the world to know that the jig is up and your days are numbered, Mr. OB.

    Isn’t it?

This captures how many MANY people in this country feel about the established party system in our country and the deep failures of BOTH parties.

The Brooklyn GOP leadership isn’t relevant enough to BE the problem, but it is certainly PART of the problem.

Th Brooklyn Republican Party has earned a terrible reputation for not having its house in order, being inept and lacking direction. I’ve even heard people as far north as Albany saying that because they first started reading this blog’s cross-posts on Urban Elephants.

I’m in Albany and I must agree with Gilly. Senator Golden has earned a quiet but increasingly negative reputation up here based on what we’ve heard. Regardless of what the party line is, those familiar with the problems in Brooklyn know Brooklyn is deep in a hole right now. The Vito Lopez stuff hasn’t helped.

    Gilly and Constance,

Our kernels of truth are getting around further than Albany, even up into Cannuck country. An upstate Republican operative that I know gave me a call about the Sarah’s U-Tube “Brooklyn GOP Revolution” video. He said that it was causing a stir in several places upstate– of course it would once the people see it. There are several places in the state where the Republican leadership and Republican incumbants are more hated by the party faithful than are the Democrats running Albany or their local Dems.

More important he mentioned that several Republican County Organizations are facing problems more or less like the Kings County Republican Committee. He said that if the Paladino Campaign can get beyond its Roger Stone connection– a reputation for gimmicks that will make Stone and not the candidate the main story– it could catch on like wild fire among insurgents all around the state.

BTW my friend is working with two establishment-type state-wide candidates who just aren’t
generating any real enthusiasm with either the Conservative or Republican Party rank and file.

The bumpy road of revolution twists and turns, this way and that.

JUSTIN LEE BRANNAN, who is exploring a Democratic run for State Senate from the 22nd District, spoke at a meeting of Brooklyn Democrats for Change. He sounded quite middle of the road to a few of the 50+ who attended the event.

MIKE DiSANTO, who has already announced that he is running for the State Senate from the 22nd, asked Brannan a question or two, which were cordially answered. Privately, Mr.DiSanto said that he was preparing to run an independant campaign if the Democratic Clubs in the district don’t carry him. He handed out his literature after the Bay Ridge club’s meeting closed.

Catching up with somethings from yesterday.

PETER E. CIPRIANO, was disclosed to be the candidate that KCRP Candidate Search Committee Chairman Anthony Testeverde has found to lead the charge against the 49th AD insurgents as a prospective candidate to be supported by “County”.

    Cipriano on himself:
“I have always loved politics, leadership and service. During my High School years (2004-2008) I founded and chaired two clubs: The Young Republicans, and The Society of Catholic Students. Being from Brooklyn, NY and going to a liberal NYC public high school, there was great opposition from the administration but I endured and both organizations succeeded. Besides those two, I was also a winning delegate in Model UN for three years and captain of our debate team (for which I won best citywide speaker in 2008). After graduating last year, I realized that going directly into college was not the right thing for me…. but I am here at [Catholic Universty] now and very excited to have begun my college education. I believe that I can bring my practical political experience from the outside world into my career at CUA and serve the student body as an effective representative.”

Hold on a second, is the the Kings County Republican Party getting ready to back a candidate for student government at Catholic University?

No, he has a web page with a photo in a nice suit by the Verrzano Bridge that says:
    Name Peter Cipriano
    Location Brooklyn New York
    Web http://www.peterc
Bio Running for New York Assemblyman from Brooklyn

Testeverde who previously has vetted the likes of Council Candidate George Smith really can pick them (last time a convict facing new charges– this time an on-again-off-again college kid running for student government and now the assembly–well, that certainly shows improvement; keep up the good work, Tony).

Chairman Eaton do the right thing. This kid has already interrupted his education at least once, tell this him to go back to Catholic University and if he still wants to run for the assembly, do it after he graduates.

    49th AD CIPRIANO UPDATE

The Kings County Chairman Craig Eaton’s open warfare on the 49th A.D. has been further acknowledged or confirmed by what appears to be the belated bleed-out of information on the candidacy of Peter E. Cipriano in the KCRP’s favorite “unofficial” web outlet “The Jig is Up Atlas”.

“Cipriano for Assembly (49th AD!)” is listed under TJIUA’s sidebar: “Republican Candidates” and it hyperlinks to a primitive ad for the young Peter C.; and the following comments appeared in the Jigglers on Uppers Blog under their PRAVDA-like “REGIME CHANGE…” screed:

“Atlas Thug said….Hey Bk Politico- check out Cipriano’s page on the right- – – – – -> He is getting my vote. F- Abbate…. April 04, 2010” (Interestingly, “Atlas Thug”apparently already had known about the Cipriano listing and the hyperlink to his ad.)
    ______________________________
“Anonymous said… Looks like in the 49th we have a candidate. Go Cipriano, Go!….April 04, 2010”
    ______________________________
SORRY TO STEAL YOUR THUNDER, TJIUA and your little anonymous commentators, but it looks like the postings here on “Atlas Shrugs In Brooklyn” beat you to the punch by a solid three (3) days ……………….look at: “BIG NEWS FROM THE FRONT”, made April 1, 2010, making a comment to the feature, “With a New Addition to the Blogroll Comes Some Thoughts and Reflections”; and the “Buzz Bomb Doodlebug” comment of April 2, 2010 to “‘The Brooklyn GOP Revolution’ Has Begun”.

The real Republicans in the 49th A.D., under our “Planting…in Potter’s Field”, byline can now report that there might have been bugs in the offices of Kings County Republican Chairman Craig Eaton and that our electronic eavesdroppers possibly may have recorded the following details of a meeting there involving Republican County Boss Eaton, his Vice Chairman Anthony Testaverde, the prospective candidate Peter E. Cipriano and an unidentified young person allied with Cipriano.

At the time, these four had stepped into a room away from the meeting with 49th A.D. Executive Members Fred Martorell and Lucretia Regina-Potter, previously mention by another blogger here on “Atlas Shrugs in Brooklyn”. Eaton and Cipriano were surprised that Lucretia Potter had arrived and announced her intention to personally question the prospective candidate for the assembly in the 49thA.D. in her position as one of the Republican District Leaders in the 49th A.D.

Mr. Cipriano was quite upset that Ms. Potter was present at the meeting, because he was afraid that she might ask detailed questions about his activities since he’d been involved in Potter’s 2008 campaign and that she also might hear things and connect them to other pieces of confidential information that he didn’t want generally known, or by Potter in particular. Eaton assured Cipriano that no such questioning would take place by Potter, and if necessary th meeting would be postponed.

Even though candidate Cipriano didn’t answer any questions last week, a research team soon uncovered certain negative information in connection with a PAC called “New Majority NY” operated out of the same address that Peter E. Cipriano had given as his own in other Board of Elections Disclosures. In its incredibly short span of existence and low level of fund raising, the New Majority NY PAC may already be a source of problems for the tyro assembly candidate.

We at “Planting….in Potter’s Field” will continue plowing and cultivating until Mr. Cipriano is ready for the reaper.
