Questions Raised as Democrat McMahon and Democratic Sympathizer Golden Support Same Liberal in 44th Race

March 6, 2010

Well, the parties are playing games with us again.

Here’s the timeline so far:

First, we hear the liberal Democratic machine candidate David Greenfield has oddly received the endorsements of Democratic Sympathizer Marty Golden and (by extension) Conservative Party Chieftain Jerry Kassar. Then, we hear that the Republicans plan to stay out of making an endorsement. Then, we hear the Republicans have endorsed a no-name candidate over Jonathan Judge (we’re still scratching our heads over that one, frankly), the only Republican we can tell is actually running a campaign.

Now, the web gets even bigger.

Apparently, 13th CD Congressman and Democrat Michael McMahon is endorsing Golden’s guy Greenfield.

This is all becoming very strange.

Here is the announcement we found on the biased Yeshiva World website (note: we’ve trimmed some of the ridiculously pro-Greenfield flotsam from the article):

Brooklyn – New York City Council candidate… David G. Greenfield was endorsed today by Congressman Michael McMahon. Congressman McMahon represents parts of Brooklyn and Staten Island in the House of Representatives, and is the first member of Congress that represents parts of the 44th Council District to endorse a candidate in the special election to replace Simcha Felder.“…

“Congressman McMahon is an independent representative who always puts the needs of his district above partisan fighting and inside-the-beltway games…” said Greenfield.

“Independent representative?”

Ok, so let me get this straight. Marty Golden and Michael McMahon are endorsing Greenfield, and this guy is calling McMahon an “independent.”

How comfortable does Marty Golden feel about that?

It wasn’t enough that he endorsed a Vito Lopez-backed candidate in David Greenfield. Now, after a blistering failure in the 13th CD race in 2008, he’s endorsed the same man that the Republicans’ major foe, Michael McMahon, is endorsing.

If I were Marty Golden, I wouldn’t be comfortable.

Not only has he given ammunition to the Democrats that their 44th City Council District machine candidate is “bipartisan” (which is like saying cheesecake is part of a healthy lifestyle) but has undermined the Republicans again by endorsing the same Democrat Congressman McMahon is. This is only giving credence to McMahon’s attempt to portray himself as being above conventional party politics and not a typical Democrat.

All of this could have been avoided, of course, if Marty Golden had actually endorsed Mr. Judge’s candidacy or just stayed out of the race entirely. His failure to do that is causing his credibility to continue to fall off.

At the same time, what do Mike Grimm and Michael Allegretti think about this? Both men are seeking to unseat McMahon. Both men are working hard to replace him. It can’t help that their GOP Prince is siding with Mr. McMahon in his endorsements.

The question beggeth: Does Golden intend to support Mr. McMahon in the 13th CD election this year?

Who knows? I wouldn’t count it out, since he has already surprised us by his actions in recent months.

All I can say is that this race is getting more and more intriguing as the days go by, and I still don’t know what’s going to happen next!

My friends have pushed on me to cool my heels a bit after ripping into Bishop DiMarzio on his illegal Haitian immigrant crap. Nonetheless, while the Republic still lives, we must fight to defend it against all predators and their allies— even the likes of State Senator Marty Golden, if necessary. Being a real patriot and standing up for America against all threats, foreign and domestic, isn’t beanbag.

The “pro-Greenfield conspiracy” is getting so big that it hardly can be called a conspiracy any longer. But, as my hero Senator Joseph McCarthy was once wont to proclaim, this is but a small piece of a “conspiracy so immense….”

I know I sound like a “Johnny one note” on this, however I don’t want you to miss the forest for the trees. Remember that Kings Democratic Chairman Vito Lopez has his hand in the Greenfield race; and so does Bishop DiMarzio, through his political hack-meister, Monsignor Harrington.

For reasons best known to them, KCRP Chairman Craig Eaton, Conservative County Chairman Gerard Kassar and Conservative State Chairman Michael Long have sold out all their parties’ other interests to those of the the Catholic hierarchy. The McMahon and Golden connections to all this are apparently only derivative, but I’ll follow-up as soon as I find out otherwise.

Let me close with a teaser— this “pro-Greenfield conspiracy” is the SECOND time in recent elections that key KCRP leaders have allied with Bishop DiMarzio to help a Vito Lopez-backed candidate. It’s already a big deal for VL and “Uncle” Nicky Mars. Soon it’ll blow up for the others, as well. Hint— it looks like another unforced error by Eaton and company.

It looks like the Brooklyn GOP and Senator Golden are lining up behind Michael Allegretti for the 13th CD.

I suggest you read Gene Berardelli’s blog post about the GOP endorsement of Ken Rice.

    Allegretti? The Queen of Kings?
Thrilling to have the Brooklyn GOP and Marty Golden lining up behind him.

One of my favorite commentators on this site commented that Jonathan Judge represents an “existential threat” to the KCRC Leadership. The fact is that all of the Young Republican upstarts like Mr. Judge and his club do.

The old have had their time, but their time has past. The time has come for the young to inherit the earth. The hope being that the corruptions and machinations of the past will be quelled by the semi-ignorant, slightly ambitious, but ultimately good-natured youths of our city.
