“Conservative Republican” Judge Attacks Lopez, “On Target” in Boro Park Debate

February 26, 2010

Thanks to Isaac, one of our readers, we were alerted to a number of articles about the recent debate in the 44th City Council district race.

Jonathan Judge, the libertarian/conservative Republican candidate was apparently very impressive and has received generally favorable reviews for his performance.

From news stories to blog comments, Mr. Judge was very well received and apparently did a good job attacking the Democratic machine candidate David Greenfield, who has been backed by Democratic Sympathizer Marty Golden and Vito Lopez together.

Isaac Abraham of the news site vosizneias.com wrote this of Mr. Judge:

Mr. Judge was on target with most of his responses about the budget, taxes, gay rights and the old party system, attacking the Democratic machine. One of the best shots he took at Mr. Greenfield, who was sitting to his left, was for parading around town announcing that he had the support of Brooklyn Democratic Chairman Vito Lopez, who had more news reports of scandals than the former chairman, Clarence Norman. I wonder why former State Senator Joe Bruno was found guilty and is serving time for doing the same thing the Mr. Lopez has been doing for years (as reported in the NY Post) while Vito is still walking the streets.

Mr. Judge also took a shot at all the endorsements that fellow candidate Joe Lazar received by claiming to change the system because it is broken. Judge was very articulate and directly responded to most of the questions asked.

One of our emailers cued us to the fact that many of the comments on this Jewish news site were positive. One commentator wrote:

I believe judge will be a better candidate then any of the stooges.

As Issac pointed out the 18% real estate tax….Judge as a conservative will vote against it etc etc

Judge is the kind of guy that has fire power he wont stop just with a nay he will go all the way

Hes got passion

Aside from flexing his Republican muscles, Mr. Judge also emphasized that he is able to work with any individuals of whatever party, religion or ethnicity they have.

For video of the debate, go here.

We wonder what this strong performance means for the Brooklyn GOP. It cannot look good that they left Mr. Judge behind and that he seems to be doing well enough without their help.

It looks even worse that rather than attending the debate and supporting a Republican in the race, they held a cocktail party on the same day as the debate, hosted with Democrat-in-Spirit Marty Golden. We reported that story to you earlier this week.

More importantly, the debate was not a good moment for Marty Golden or the Conservative Party. Both endorsed Mr. Greenfield and both, we have been told, were not applauded at the debate. Also not mentioned at the debate or in the press coverage is Mr. Greenfield’s apparent lawsuit against three other candidates, including Mr. Judge.

So, all in all, a good week for anti-establishment Republicans in Brooklyn as Jonathan Judge makes some serious in roads in the race for the 44th City Council Distirct seat!

Go Johnny, go! Jonathan is the man du jour!

It is 100% clear that there is a lot wrong with the Brooklyn GOP – at the top. It’s a complex milieu of appalling personalities, fat abd bloated egos and chronically poor leadership decisions.

Craig-ie Eaton and Marty Golden-turd ought to go. The borough Republican Party rank and file and grass roots citizens ought to force these useless, brainless idiots from the GOP scene. Enough is enough!

Also, Jerry Kassar, Gerry O’Brien and Dr. Sour-Kraus are all part of the current cesspool that mismanages and corrupts the KCRC, physically located at the law firm of Eaton and Torrenzano LLP, at 1662 Sheepshead Bay Road, Brooklyn NY 11235

( f/y/i- the Putz tries to hide this fact now; it is no longer specified where the KCRC office/HQ is on the “new and improved” BrooklynGOP.com website)

Digital Armchair Activist is a bit impassioned today. However, the KCRC does indeed have their address listed on the KCRC website, which is the same address/location as Craig A. Eaton’s Eaton and Torrenzano LLP, 1662 Sheepshead Bay Road, Brooklyn, NY 11235. This arrangement is not sensible and not wise for the KCRC “leadership” to continue to allow since there are issues, possible labor law sticky problems and the firm’s legal cases that could be in conflict with the Party’s goals and which often results in “unkosher” influence peddling. As such, the KCRC chair ought to make his firm’s client list publicly available so we can be sure there is certainly no such conflict happening.

The Jerry Kassar-esque Brooklyn borough Conservative Party has an incestuous, “too close for comfort,” relationship with the current KCRP chairman and Marty “Bay Ridge Manor” Golden, metaphorically speaking.

Jonathan Judge, bless his heart and earnest efforts for our community, rightfully is running on the Republican line. That is appropriate.

Perhaps in the future, after the 44th City Council Special Election and going forward, Jonathan Judge can also run on the Libertarian Party line. There is precedent for this. The new Republican council member from the 19th District in Northeast Queens, Dan Halloran, was elected last November on the Republican and Libertarian Party lines (as well as the NYS Independence Party and NYS Conservative lines too).

As a Libertarian I believe the GOP and the Libertarian Party have a great deal in common and are philosophicallysimilar. Smaller government, less taxes, more freedom!

With only a little tweaking to make it a critique insted of a “puff piece” and you’d have a great conservative Republican attack screed against the Golden one.

AAA’s litany of “great things” done by State Senator Golden are nothing but increases to entitlements, criminalization of our constitutional gun rights and slovenly sops to our
liberal-independant-and not-republican Mayor Michael Bloomberg. They must be really worried about a Democratic challenge in November.

The party is acting the way it is because they’re frankly used to losing. They don’t know how to do anything else. They don’t help candidates. They back lousy candidates. They don’t support good candidates.

Then again, I think Vito Lopez and Marty Golden must be distant cousins.

This new gem on the Brooklyn GOP website:

Republican Twentysomethings are being invited to an evening of casual food, drink and conversation on Thursday, March 4th in Park Slope.

The free event will run from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.

Lesli Rice, Director of Youth Activities for the Brooklyn Republican Party, said the event is “just one of our ongoing activities to reach out to different kinds of Republican voters, and get them involved.” She added, “March 4th is a free event. We want our younger GOP neighbors to join us, and bring a friend.”

County Chairman Craig Eaton added, “Young people who share our Republican philosophy are invited to come down and meet their fellow GOP neighbors, but the emphasis on March 4th is social, not strictly political.”

The event will be held at Korzo, located at 667 Fifth Avenue at 20th Street, in Southern Park Slope. The R train station at Prospect Avenue is less than 4 blocks away.

Is this what Craig A. Eaton Esq. had in mind on December 21, 2007 in The New York Times?

Brooklyn G.O.P. Votes to Let Bloomberg In from March 4, 2009 (almost 1 year ago!)

    http://www.observer.com/2305/brooklyn-gop-votes-let-bloomberg

Question: is the Brooklyn GOP better off or worse off in 2010 than it was when “The Duke of Bay Ridge” became chair in 2007?

I think we all know the right answer.

Craig, do the right thing for the Party and leave from the GOP scene.

“Brooklyn Republicans are online, and we are using the Internet to build a real grassroots organization, not just to raise money and send e-mail,” said Eaton.

I see Rudy Giuliani endorsed Michael grimm in the 13th CD race. I guess Eaton didnt have enough clout despite being the “first” to endorse Rudy for everything under the sun to get him to endorse his boy Allegretti. Nice job craig- Im sure Allegretti is pleased with your support and leadership for him!

Speaking of Republican Reformers and a need for change from the status quo – in Brooklyn and citywide too – we should highlight some candidates of the GOP persuasion who would definitely make a positive difference in our city. Jonathan Judge is such a person. Another is Michael Faulkner who is running against Congressman Charlie Rangel (15th C.D. NY) in Harlem.
