As Queens GOP Endorses Lazio, Brooklyn GOP’s Lazio/Collins Meeting Falls Flat

January 18, 2010

I continue to be amazed by how inept the Brooklyn GOP leadership remains. At their recent pow wow in, of all places, Bay Ridge–where else?–the Bay Ridge Cabal met with an astoundingly low turnout to welcome Rick Lazio and Chris Collins to the borough.

With some e-mailers telling us the number of attendees was as low as 30 and some saying it was as only as many as 40, the Bay Ridge GOP failed to amass a group of spectators at the Lazio/Collins meeting worthy of a gubernatorial election.

Also, rumor has it irrelevant Chairman _______ “The Duke of Bay Ridge” _______ of the Cathedral Club went off on a member of the Brooklyn Young Republicans with the belief that she would be reporting to the blogs about what took place.

The event’s lack of success was reminiscent to the Bay Ridge Cabal’s failed health care rally:

Having drawn a “small crowd,” according to Courier Life, the rally provided little direction about what exactly should be done to address the healthcare debacle. While the GOP’s opposition to the bill is clear, the party seeking to unseat the 13th CD’s Democratic Representative McMahon could not provide any alternative message, it seems, to what has been out there.

The Brooklyn Daily Eagle gave its usual positive coverage to Brooklyn GOP events, calling it a “Teen Led GOP Rally.” This is somewhat misleading, as one emailer disclosed to Atlas that the event was led by one lone high school student (who, the emailer said, was a “better speaker than the GOP establishment figures that attended”). Very few young people actually attended, it seems.

Otherwise, the event was largely uneventful and unsuccessful. This is unsurprising, given the lack of notice provided by the party and its failed Chairman Craig “The Duke of Bay Ridge” Eaton.

So, let me get this straight…the Brooklyn GOP has BOTH gubernatorial candidates secured for their Executive Committee meeting, they released the notice the night before the meeting, and they garnered around 30 attendees?

How sad.

Meanwhile, as Brooklyn equivocates on the issue, the Queens GOP endorsed Lazio last week. It’s not clear whether Brooklyn will be declaring in the race anytime soon. This is from the Daily Eagle:

No endorsements were made at the meeting, since Brooklyn GOP Chair Craig Eaton noted that other candidates must also be heard.

Well, that’s nice. I wonder if there will be another meeting then very soon in order to bestow any endorsements on any candidates running. I guess that includes the 44th City Council Race?

Perhaps the party will sit out on that one and let their beloved Senator Marty Golden (aka “The Golden Prince”) make the decision for them. So far, he has endorsed a democrat in the race. This comes just months after he was found to be at an ACORN rally endorsing the Atlantic Yards project.

Not a good place for a Republican to be…

No word yet on whether Overlord Golden will un-endorse this democrat, but one of his acolytes, Conservative Party Chairman Jerry Kassar attacked Atlas (sort of…) in a recent newspaper piece. That piece hinted that Kassar, an employee of Senator Golden, will be leaning the Conservative Party toward a democrat in the race.

No surprise there, and likely a very bad mistake…

Back to the Brooklyn GOP…

I’ve heard rumors and seen lots of comments on the blogs indicating that the Bay Ridge leadership expelled a member of the Brooklyn Young Republicans from the meeting. It is unclear if she was entitled to be there, but if she was, this could represent the first shot across the bow at the Young Republicans and their President Jonathan Judge, who is running for City Council.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the party was being driven by its personal animosity to stone Judge and his club, which, in this humble writer’s opinion, has been more successful than the party organization itself.

They don’t like being challenged, as this blog has done to them since last summer. We have challenged them to be moral, transparent, ethical, and open about their actions and their conduct. Occasionally, we have been successful. But the status quo often sits like a stubborn animal in the middle of the road, unwilling to get out of the way of progress and reform.

That tactic, as I’ve said in the past, is a losing one.

***

So, as you can see, the Brooklyn GOP has cooked up some more ineptitude in the early days of 2010. Let’s see if that trend continues down the line.

What has happened simply shows that Christina Bennett (the 18 year old YR rep) is a lady. When asked to leave the meeting, she did. The later attacks on her by Craig Eaton simply show that he is no gentleman. Craig, are you so afraid of an 18 year old girl that you have to make up conversations and lie about her? Have you no shame? It is a rhetorical question, as it is evident that he does not.

Then Craig whines at the meeting that he gets no help. The problem is if you try to help but do not march in absolute goose step with him and his lackeys, he attacks you and drives you away.

It is time that he and his friends are removed from leadership. Call it self defense. After all how long will it be before you are on his hit list? How long before he comes to you at an executive board meeting and asks you if you will Twitter, or tell someone about things spoken of at the meeting. Maybe you have as a friend someone he does not like. Unless you march in goose step, it is only a mater of time. Save yourselves, and maybe the Kings County GOP in the process.

    On the light side……

I just took a good look at the picture of “The Duke” with Rick Lazio. Wow, he really looks happy. He has that “I really could use some Preparation H” look. I guess that is what happens when you call a meeting and only 30 people show up. I have dropped in on Young Republican meetings and seen more people then that. They looked happier too!

It’s time to go rogue! Enough with Craig Eaton! If he can’t stand transparency and put up with a young lady listening intently to whatever crap the leadership has to say, then he’s NO LEADER.

I recommend you do what’s best for the county, Failure-In-Chief, and RESIGN.

We don’t want to lose anymore.

Your comments abt Prep H are not only immature and childish, they show why you and the rest of the Bloggers are not taken serious by anyone but yourselves. If you want to be respected and get some credibility, you need to act and speak like adults. To use petty ridicule, inuendo and cheap attacks only highlights that you are weak, useless and will never be given any credit.

A word to the wise – if you want to be treated like adults, act like adults. You should stick to the facts – real undisputed proven facts. If you have anything on Craig, the GOP or others, state it with proof and the proof will speak for itself. But ridiculous comments like yours only prove you are the little people you really are.

      Start acting mature.

It’s actually kind of funny, and I commend Fly On The Wall for his/her humor.

FLY SWATTER, who is likely Craig Eaton due to his penchant for CAPS LOCK, obviously hasn’t been paying attention to this blog for long. The fact is its been following the crooked, immoral ways of the Craig Eaton Cabal for months now.

I’ve been fortunate to follow the blog and learn from it. The blog has had a tremendous effect on the party. I mean, just today, the party recognized MLK only AFTER Atlas had done so, as in hours after in the AFTERNOON.

That tells you everything you need to know about Eaton and his ilk: they’re playing a reactive game, and they have no way of winning.

        Sorry guys…

Oh Fly Swatter, you missed…………. my point that is. I did not say “The Duke” needed Preparation H, I will never claim to be that close to the man, nor would I want to be. I just said he looked like he needed it. Since it is quite obvious that you missed the humor, and the point, I will explain.

The proof is as big as the missing smile on his face. It has been said “a mans wisdom maketh his face to shine.” There is no shine on his face, just the look of someone who has double crossed so many people that he can no longer be happy. Why? Every person he has double crossed is another person he now fears.

The humor here, well it may be hard to see. He thinks he is in charge, yet he is beholden to people, who will double cross him when he becomes a liability. That is the fear you see.

Looks like Craig is in his 60’s and gained about thirty pounds with all the rich food and drink the county foots the bill for. Exercise” Pound Pavement”, get out from under your desk and watch those ugly pounds fade away. Can’t do much about the ugly mug unless some major plastic surgery is in the works. Doesn’t smile much either, the hare lip becomes more noticeable. What a pathetic bitter old man.

I remember such arrogance from another politician: John Kerry.

    Quoting MM Boarder Watcher:

Cathedral Club Craig Eaton has served up another unforced error.

Borrowing one from his partner’s and at least one KCRP Boardmember’s hero, Barack Hussein Obama’s playbook, “Never let a catastrophe go to waste,” Eaton has again used KCRP money for one of his personally selected charities, “MAYOR’S FUND…..” c/o “Republican Headquarters.”

With 24/7 TV, print dailies and on-line coverage [ GIVING CONTINUOUS INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO MAKE DONATIONS] what legitimate motivation could your party chairman have to do this with Republican Party funds; he didn’t even set up an independent KCRP fund to collect and account for the money?

Regardless of all that, Cathedral Club Craig’s flier got the KCRP a black eye in his own home parish, Saint Anselm’s RC Church, in Bay Ridge. From the altar, one of the Parochial Vicars, Rev. Father Michael Louis Gelfant specifically told the congregation that the Eaton flyers were in the church without the pastor’s permission and solicitations were not associated with the relief efforts of the Diocese of Brooklyn. I have to assume that similar announcements were made at other masses thoughout Brooklyn where the Eaton fliers were distributed. Not good for a Repulican Chairman. Not good for a president emeritus of the Cathedral Club.

“The question begs” [sic] Is Cathedral Club Craig Eaton “in-step” or “out-of-step” with the Brooklyn Diocese?

Does he support the Brooklyn Diocese’ position on humane immigration reform? Does he support his partner’s and at least one member of the KCRP Executive Board’s hero, Barack Hussein Obama’s, virtual amnesty for illegal Haitian immigrants because of the earthquake? Just how much does Cathedral Club Craig Eaton join in Barack Hussein Obama’s tactic to “Never let a catastrophe go to waste” ?

Craig is pathetic, absurd and laughable. He’s got “chutzpah” and big balls. Sad…. I even feel some pity.

It’s embassing that the church’s pastor had to publicly tell the congregants how Craig Eaton put out his flyers out in the church without permission or authority from St. Anselm’s RC Church.

Craig and his family are members there as well. How embarrasing this must be for the Eaton Family.

Craig, do the people of Brooklyn a favor – resign from the KCRP. Take time to focus on your rapidly deteriorating law career and spend more quality time with your family.

Perhaps being out of the public limelight, the internet, the blogs and newspapers would be just the medicine the doctor ordered, so to speak!

Take this practical advice. After a few weeks you’ll look better, you’ll feel better and you’ll be happier. Recent photos of you indicate you look stressed. Are you exercising regularly?

Please monitor your blood pressure and eating habits. You looked flushed and heavier lately. Make time to go to a doctor and get a full medcial exam.

By the way, aren’t you due for a colonoscopy? It’s about that time.

Craig, sincerely wishing you better health and less stress!

Russell Gallo will answer for his actions soon enough. His master Craig Eaton has given him the green light to “do whatever it takes to get rid of the problems”. Allowing such a psychotic individual that hides behind the mask of a war veteran such free reign begs for trouble. He cannot be allowed to do or say whatever he wants because he cannot take criticism and will react with hostility and perhaps violence.
His arrogance like that of his master’s will be his undoing. Gallo is now under the microscope.

Why did Craig Eaton post only one picture from the GOP Governors Candidates meeting?
Why did he post a picture with Rick Lazio? Is this an unofficial endorsement of Lazio?
Where is Craig Eaton’s picture with Chris Collins? Does this mean the Brooklyn Republican Party tossed Collins by the wayside? This is very upsetting. There are two Republican candidates for governor and Craig Eaton has chosen to pose with only one.
It is better that Craig Eaton did not post a picture with Collins. Eaton is bad luck and everyone associated with him loses.

How can the attendance estimates of thirty (30) to forty (40) people at Craig Eaton’s Lazio-Collins event be accurate?

How may people are there on the KCRP Executive Board, what is their quorum for a meeting?

Weren’t the candidates each accompanied by entourage?

Weren’t there newspaper people in attendance?

Wasn’t State Senator Golden there with staff?

I’ve spoke to three people who were there and they weren’t on the Executive Board.

More important about this gathering that looks like it could have been held in a closet…why did the YR Bennett have to have her credentials questioned by Gallo and Eaton before the “open” portion of the meeting—the part where the KCRP did its big-deal roll-out of the only two announced Republican gubernatorial candidates?

Then, why were her credentials questioned again for the “closed” executive session?

Then, why, if she had no right to be there, would she have been allowed to remain, but only if she agreed to certain conditions?

Then, why make an issue of it all over again at the “closed” executive session?

All of this over a teenager????
