Winter Does Nothing To Slow Pace of Atlas Readers, As Thousands Come This Week

January 16, 2010

The pace of our readership has not decreased, in spite of what is usually an uneventful winter of politics. Thankfully, recent events and a host of news stories have brought thousands upon thousands of readers to the blog from day to day in this month alone.

Whether it’s the Brooklyn GOP’s finances, the Cathedral Club, or the 44th City Council District race, Atlas has had a great many stories this month that I’ve been following, and I’m glad to know you all are, too.

You should know that the writers here at Atlas do what they do in large measure due to your visits to the blog, your communications with us, and our unified goal of bringing reform to the Brooklyn Republican Party.

So, on behalf of our writers and myself, allow me to thank you for your continued support and for joining us in discussing what we can do to clean out the weeds in our party for the better.

In its desperation, the Bay Ridge Cabal is planning on trying to raise money for Haiti relief. One wonders what provoked them to do THAT…

    I know what did…

By the way, did I mention Sour Kraus and Gallo the Cock (aka Rooster) must go?

You are truly a disgrace – you should be ashamed of yourself. The Brooklyn GOP seeks to raise funds for the victims in Haiti and you have the audacity to raise that on the blog as if it is something wrong, or something done with an ulterior motive. You should only be lucky such a tragedy never affects you or your family, and if it does, you would be happy anybody or any organization is doing anything to help. You are crossing the lines of decency. I assume it wasnt done in desperation. It was done to try to aid the young men, women and children who have no food, water, medical care or clothing.

First off, Craig Eaton is IRRELEVANT…

Just thought I’d say that. đŸ˜‰

Secondly, I think we all know the party rarely acts when it’s not directly in its own best interests. The party’s “leaders” (leaders in theory, alone) only act when it benefits them or their employer, Senator Martin Golden.

I’ve already donated personally to the victims in Haiti, so you don’t what you’re talking about. But, then again, that’s no surprise. All you and your little Anti-Atlas/YR/Potter/Judge Cabal do is spread hate, hate, and more hate. You’re desperate and pathetic.

Nothing you do can make the leaders of the party more relevant than they are. They have broiled their own goose.

It won’t be long before they’re gone forever.

You are a weak, pathetic young woman who deserves what you get in life. You crossed the line – the Haiti tragedy and any efforts by anyone should be off limits – but you useless young Shruggers have no integrity, no intelligence and no decency. If you did, you would be stating your names, identifying yourselves and standing up for yourselves.

You say “Craig is irrelevant” but he did not respond to you, I did. Every time someone brings up a good point, you always go back and attack Craig, Sen Golden or someone else, who doesnt even respond to you juvenile attacks. Oh, but you dont know who responds to you and the others – you dont like that. You dont like anonymity, do you.

Once again, I’ve donated to the victims in Haiti. I didn’t need to send out big ass flier saying I was doing so.

The Brooklyn GOP appears to only want to help victims. In the flyer it doesnt ask for any credit – it merely gives people information as to where they can donate.

You should never have gone down this road. Shame, Shame on you and anyone else who uses this tragedy as a “punchline” like you did.

Have to go now. Have more important things to do than to sit on my computer all night.

Everyone will agree that the natural disaster that took place in Haiti is a horrific tragedy and everyone will also agree that these poor people need help from anyone anywhere.
The fact that the Bay Ridge Cabal decided to step in and offer assistance need not be criticized.
The fact that the Bay Ridge Cabal is doing this for their own self promotion and self interest is the real tragedy.
It’s surprising that members of the Cabal haven’t posed for photos with a Haitian family, crowing about all they are doing to assist the victims. Funny thing is they wouldn’t have one of these families over for dinner, let alone walk down a block in Bay Ridge without calling the police on them.

Amazing how fast Craig’s press releases are put online fast on Urban Elephants – posted by “The Editors” of UE (such as Jay, Daniel and Robert), not by the Brooklyn GOP or Craig A. Eaton Esq., of the law firm of Eaton and Torrenzano LLP, located at 1662 Sheepshead Bay Road, Brooklyn, NY 11235 (which is also the Brooklyn GOP HQ’s and the new Haiti Relief c/o Mayor’s Fund to Advance NYC c/o 1662 Sheepshead Bay Road……etc. )

Guess what? something just ain’t “kosher” or “halal” at this address: 1662 Sheepshead Bay Road! The Brooklyn GOP leadership at the top should be reviewed for “conflict of interests” and possible financial shenanigans.

If the KCRC under Craig Eaton’s tutelage has weird financial stuff happening and various filing due date not being met on time, then who is performing the “due diligence” reagarding borough GOP Party finances?

Guess what? —- Eaton’s press release sent to UE’s – and posted by the UE Editors on their site – has the link to the King County Republican Party of….. – ( NOT of Kings County, Brooklyn NY — but of “King County Republican Party of Bellevue, WA 98004 – state of Washington!) – Are they morons? Or just plain stupid?

There is no “due diligence” at the Eaton Bay Ridge GOP or at Urban Elephants either!

Lastly, you’d be a fool yo use Craig as a lawyer. I’m sure he sucks at that too.

Eaton & Torrenzano LLP > I found this customer review online >

“If I could give 0 stars, I would. Their paralegal is the rudest most unprofessional person I have ever had to do business with. This lawyer is vague in explaining things and often does not respond to phone calls. DO NOT USE THESE ATTORNEYS if you want your case solved. Eaton is always on vacation and his paralegal, Lisa, is far from helpful. They make the process take much longer than it has to be. Horrible, horrible, horrible!”

    I’m a friend of Lora’s.

I’m glad the truth about Eaton and his gang is coming out. Even though he’s irrelevant, the party that he has hijacked is NOT irrelevant, and we are proof of that very fact. Our criticism and our willingness to stand up for that which we believe in is what makes us unique and what differentiates us from the inept “leaders” of the party.

These people have been called out for what they are, yet they refuse to ADDRESS the criticism given to them. They would rather sling mud than actually answer for the failure after failure that the party has endured under their lack of leadership.

Thank God we don’t need them for the party to survive. All we need is for them to be removed from positions of power. Then, we can change the way politics happens in the Brooklyn GOP.

A day in the life of the Gallo/Kraus/Eaton Cabal: “Sorry, We don’t track IP addresses. But believe us, we have plenty of readers and receive emails regularly from people that might surprise you.

“There isn’t a day that goes by where the people ‘in the know’ aren’t mentioning something they could have only read here.”

      LOL it’s almost comical!

These people are so adrift they can only wish they were in any state worthy of being called “leadership.” In the end, the failed Capano advisors and the irrelevant Chairman are merely a bunch of reactive baffoons who respond only when Atlas or their nemesis the Brooklyn YRs do anything of note.

Otherwise, if not for these organizations, the party would still have Arnold the Terminator on their website and advertise the Lincoln Dinner from last June. Their website would still be as still as the Rosetta Stone. They still wouldn’t answer emails and would whine and moan if their will wasn’t followed to the letter.

But today is part of a new era in the Brooklyn GOP. It’s an era of freedom. We no longer have to bow down to what “master” tells us to do. The days of the puppeteer Golden and his stooges Kassar, Gallo and the irrelevant Eaton will soon come to an end. The days of a new GOP in Brooklyn will soon be at hand.

And, I don’t know Judge, but it seems like everything that’s happened lately has thrown them into disarray, particularly the 44th CD race. So thank you Judge, even if you didn’t mean to cause them harm! lol

There are limits to what is considered free speech.

The 1942 Supreme Court ruled that libel, fighting words, obscenity, and lewdness is NOT protected speech.

Although the 1964 Supreme Court ruled that public figures cannot regularly sue for libel, they can sue for libel if their is “actual malice” or a knowing disregard for the actual truth.

In any event, just because these are not protected speech, it does not make it a crime. Legislator must also draft a bill and make it a crime.

If there are no criminal laws on “unprotected speech”, then the General Attorney’s office can’t do a thing about this website.

Even if it was a crime, the AG’s office is a government agency, just like the Post Office, public schools and possibly the future “death care” bill, which means the AG would take ages until they would prosocute anyone on this blog.

Craig Eaton can file a civil claim in Supreme Court for libel since the “actual malice” requirment has been met. At that point, all records of this blog will be forced to become available to Craig.

      • Whistle Blower permalink
        January 17, 2010 11:13 am

That works both ways. Craig has alot more to lose.

      • Law & Order permalink
        January 17, 2010 11:20 am

Craig Eaton wouldn’t succeed for two reasons. Firstly, the comments that have been made have been political speech, which is the most protected form of speech. There is an extremely high premium on this kind of speech in our country–it was the original reason for creating the First Amendment in the first place (for a simple explanation, check out a website like Wikipedia). And by the way, you don’t just file a suit and say “actual malice” judge! It’s a VERY high standard. It’s one of the reasons public officials sue so infrequently. Besides, the writers of the blog haven’t said anything malicious that I can tell. Comments get heated, but the posts themselves aren’t.

Actual malice is so high a standard to prove for a politician, that Eaton would certainly fail. If he’s a lawyer, he should know this.

Secondly, by going through the hoops and attacking a blog via a legal path (which is a matter of public record), he would be admitting to the world that he has lost control of his party and is so distracted by a little online blog that he can’t get what he needs to get done. That lawsuit would be splashed across the pages of Urban Elephants and Atlas Shrugs in Brooklyn, not to mention the local papers like the Post, the News, and maybe even the Times. And if he loses…well, let’s not contemplate that…

A more likely scenario would be for non-public officials, like Judge (before he became a city council candidate) and the YR’s, to sue the creatures that have been spreading filth about them. That is NOT protected speech, and they would have a very strong legal argument.

So, it’s a double-edged sword for Eaton and his Cabal of public officials. For an old law man like me, I can say I think it would be bad for them.

      • One Big Mess permalink
        January 17, 2010 1:04 pm

You can file a lawsuit and claim “actual malice”. At that point there is something called “motion to dismiss”, which an attorney representing atlas shrugs would file. If the motion to dismiss is granted, then no records will be needed.

However, if the motion is not granted, then Craig will have access to most if not all information regarding this blog.

It is true that Criag made mistakes, but the commentators on this blog made mistakes as well. Actual malice and personal atttacks were made against Craig Eaton by commentators on this blog.

You say “Craig would never want to touch it” – a double edged sword, you say! Have you spoken to him? Has anyone spoken to him? I would guess not.

That is a very intereseting statement however. The truth is that all of the financials of the County are a matter of public record – The County’s financials are an open book. There are no payments of rent to his law firm; no payments to his foundation. Query: Where is there a conflict? You all say “conflict” but have not proven anything. You even keep re-posting old comments but still no proof – the reason – no proof does exist.

You have all made baseless, unsupported claims, allegations and defamatory statements – but yet, 6 months later, have still not provided any proof of any crime, conflict, illegal activity – in fact you have proved nothing and have not provided one shred of evidence. You make broad statements but cannot back any of them up.

You are all just blowing smoke. If Craig were smart, which he appears to be, he would have copied each and every blog statement ever made, chronicle them and then keep them handy when needed.

All you bloggers do is defame, harrass and attack – all in a vile, malicious and evil way. Certainly Craig and the others you have attacked have rights. You have attacked his family, his charity, his law practice; you have posted very personal information about where he lives and how much he spent on his home; the car he drives, the vacation home he has and where he vacations? Think that is all protected speech – I believe not. If you all stuck to politics, maybe you would have been safe. But you have all crossed the line and you all should and maybe will be held accountable for your actions.

Remember, free speech is protected – but that is free speech of an individual when he states it. Here you all make attacks using fake names – that is not protected.

So, sit behind your aliases and keep defaming. But keep some money on the side when you have to pay for legal fees and damages, if and when an action is started.

If you are not nervous, maybe you should be. A lot has been said without any support. A lot of nasty, vile, malicious and intentional attacks have been made – all outside of politics.

The fact that you are all starting to talk about this appears to show that you are getting a little but nervous – thinking, maybe you overstepped your bounds.

Not so fast, Craig (not Kraus or Gallo; they can’t even write with proper grammar–not that Craig is much better, in my opinion).

Things get said about politicians all the time. PLENTY of evidence has been put up on this website and others to make it crystal clear that serious problems exist in the Brooklyn GOP. There are very questionable dealings that, even if they are not illegal or CLEARLY UNETHICAL, are immoral, are just plain wrong, or demonstrate mismanagement and ineptitude.

Craig Eaton chose to be the Lord and Master of the Bay Ridge GOP. In this country, we hold our politicians to a higher standard. We expect better than the same old politics as usual. Eaton and Company might accept that, but I don’t and neither do the majority of non-insiders.

Eaton has not gotten it even one-tenth as bad as Sarah Palin got it or President Bush. He’s just pissed because he’s lost control of his ship and no longer commands the respect of his constituents. But Brooklyn Republicans are not robots or slaves. They don’t do what they’re told because some fat old man tells them to. They do what they do only if they believe in it. That is a fact Eaton and his Cabal fail to realize.

They expect rather than ask. They disrespect rather than appreciate. They hate rather than win over.

This strategy has failed and will continue to fail.

Craig Eaton was PUT into his office. He can be TAKEN OUT OF IT.

He should be. He, Kraus, Gallo–they all need to go.

        Soon enough, they will.

My personal findings are as follows:

Craig did say untrue things about specific people.

People did say untrue things with actual malice about Craig.

Neither is a crime, both are civil offenses.

Perhaps the IRS would be very interested to know the financial disclosures of the political party, the law firm, the not-for-profit organization and other lucrative property and business dealings of the powers that lead.
Perhaps the newspapers would be very interested to know about the fancy cars, the house on the hill, vacation properties, and a very lavish lifestyle for those that live beyond their means.

    Republicans, WAKE UP.

Cathedral Club Craig Eaton has served up another unforced error.

Borrowing one from his partner’s and at least one KCRP Boardmember’s hero, Barack Hussein Obama’s playbook, “Never let a catastrophe go to waist,” Eaton has again used KCRP money for one of his personally selected charities, “MAYOR’S FUND…..” c/o “Republican Headquarters.”

With 24/7 TV, print dailies and on-line coverage [ GIVING CONTINUOUS INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO MAKE DONATIONS] what legitimate motivation could your party chairman have to do this with Republican Party funds; he didn’t even set up an independent KCRP fund to collect and account for the money?

Regardless of all that, Catherdral Club Craig’s flyer got the KCRP a black eye in his own home parish, Saint Anselms RC Church, in Bay Ridge. From the altar, one of the Parochial Vicars, Rev. Father Michael Louis Gelfant specifically told the congregation that the Eaton flyers were in the church without the pastor’s permission and solicitations were not associated with the relief efforts of the Diocese of Brooklyn. I have to assume that similar annoncements were made at other masses thoughout Brooklyn where the Eaton flyers were distributed. Not good for a Repulican Chairman. Not good for a president emeritis of the Cathedral Club.

“The question begs” [sic] Is Cathedral Club Craig Eaton “in-step” or “out-of-step” with the Brooklyn Diocese?

Does he support the Brooklyn Diocese’ position on humane immigration reform? Does he support his partner’s and at least one member of the KCRP Executive Board’s hero, Barack Hussein Obama’s, virtual amnesty for illegal Haitian immigrants because of the earthquake? Just how much does Cathedral Club Craig Eaton join in Barack Hussein Obama’s tactic to “Never let a catastrophe go to waist” ?

It is quite disturbing to note that when an earthquake struck Abruzzo, Italy in April of 2009 the Kings County Republican Party did NOTHING to assist the people in Italy from this region.
Not a flyer, not a letter, not a phone call, not an email requesting help for the Italian people.
Do they feel that Haitians warrant more attention because they are more important politically or are they just jumping on the bandwagon for publicity?
In any case, it is no secret how many members of the Kings County Republican Party and their paid minions feel about those “dago ginny wops”.
They have no problem expressing their hatred and prejudice through their words and actions.

The answer is simple. The national Republicans decided to help Haiti, so the local Republicans are helping Haiti.

It’s not that simple, and frankly, your comment is simpleminded.

the link to the Kings County GOP is not the Brooklyn GOP but the GOP of Bellevue, WA 98004 (in the State of Washington).

This is an error. is NOT the same as

Another fine example of “due diligence” on the part of the Brooklyn GOP. lol!
