Anger Grows as The Duke’s Bay Ridge Agenda is Propagated

October 22, 2009

My story from last evening seems to have touched a few nerves. It appears a large number of Atlas readers were deeply offended by The Duke’s recent email highlighting the party’s upcoming pre-election events, all of which are within his realm of Bay Ridge. The email demonstrates that Chairman Craig “The Duke” Eaton is severely out of touch with his constituents from outside his neighborhood and that he intends to take a Bay Ridge-centric agenda into his second term.

Yet, in a sign that The Duke has continued to pour salt on the wounds from his controversial reelection, Atlas has recently received a scathing review of Mr. Eaton’s tactics from Lucretia Regina-Potter, candidate for the 49th Assembly District.

As you will recall, the 49th Assembly District was at the heart of the contentious Brooklyn GOP County Committee Convention last month, during which 49th AD powerhouse Arnaldo Ferraro took over 1/3 of the votes away from Eaton in a mere 5 days in the race for Chairman.

(In the interest of full disclosure, I endorsed Ferraro as the “best chance for reforming the Brooklyn GOP” on September 29th. I was encouraged by his experience, his swiftly executed campaign, and, of course, that he is not Craig Eaton.)

Atlas has reported that The Duke has threatened the 49th Assembly District in the immediate wake of his reelection rather than seek unity. Now, Ms. Regina-Potter has called out his tactics and condemned them. She is mostly critical of the fact that no notifications or notices were sent or have been sent to her or the 49th’s Fiorello LaGuardia Club by the party leadership.

Here is the email:

I would like to bring to the attention of Atlas readers the fact that our Chairman, Craig Eaton, is up to his dirty tricks again.

The following “Events List” was emailed to me by a third party that has no interest in Republican Party activities whatsoever; why this person received this information is anyone’s guess. This person felt that this list should be brought to the attention of the leadership of the 49th AD because, whether we received it or not, we should be made aware of the activities of our Party.

For the record, THE LEADERSHIP OF THE 49th AD DID NOT RECEIVE ANY NOTIFICATION OF THIS TYPE DIRECTLY FROM THE CHAIRMAN!

This proves our point that the 49th AD does not receive any notifications, nor communications, nor meeting invitations from the Kings County Republican Party.

The exclusionary and divisive tactics of Craig Eaton and company must cease and desist immediately!

This also proves that there is a need for reform and an adjustment of the attitude of the Chairman’s role in our beleagured Party.

Nowhere in the activities is there is any sign of any kind of support for our local candidates, other than empty words that do not amount to any tangible results in any election.

Lucretia Regina-Potter

Duly Elected Republican District Leader – 49 AD

This is not the first time the 49th AD has been critical of the party since the election. In response to a slanted press release sent out after The Duke’s reelection, the Fiorello LaGuardia Club released a statement calling the Brooklyn GOP “divided and without guidance.”

The fact is the failure of the party to publicize events is one thing, but purposely engaging in radio silence with Republican regions is unconscionable. It is clear that these tactics have been going on since Eaton took up his holy see.

Ms. Regina-Potter is correct in her argument that this closeted, secretive approach to “running” the party will fail. It has in the past, and it will continue to do so.

But more importantly, I commend Ms. Regina-Potter for her call for reform and for bravely challenging the establishment. We need more of that, and we thank those of you that continue to express your suggestions and concerns to us daily.

The reality is that Chairman Eaton’s empty promise agenda is rearing its ugly head, and what people are seeing is concerning them. The party is facing a serious crisis of leadership, and things are not about to get any better. With the upcoming elections sure to be crushing to the establishment, one wonders if Eaton will soon be forced to abdicate his Bay Ridge throne.

At least he has some GOP events he can go to within walking distance of his home before that happens.

Chickens come home to roost, so to speak.

Mr. Eaton and Mr. Torrenzano, partners in their law form, are barely speaking to each other. The partnership is doomed. Eaton and Torrenzano LLP is going to break up.

Too much negative attention has been bad for business.

Who would want to be involved with that Eaton, let alone have him represent you in a LEGAL PROCEEDING! Guy clearly missed professional responsibility.

Does anyone know if he’s even been sanctioned or investigated by the Bar of the State of New York?

Either what many people have been saying about Craig is true……OR….. Everyone on the anti-Craig Atlas/reformer side are all “off the wall”…..aka “nuts.”

There is no way people would have this much passion, vigor, drive and attention to details if there wasn’t some injustice, excesses and unfairness occurring.

    Sometimes (moral) anger is justified.

Don’t tell that to the fools in the party establishment! Remember, to them, you’re all responsible for sinking the Titanic, even if you’re the bus boys and they are the captains steering the ship.

Blame without responsibility: the Brooklyn GOP motto.

Ms. Regina-Potter is absolutely right, and what The Duke did at the convention was despicable. Shame on him.

And I read about that Gallow person insulting her on this blog. Someone should send him to the political gallows.

Hey Russell! Google your name and the word “Brooklyn,” and your thuggish comments are the first thing that come up lol.

Forever branded as an anti-woman, establishment-supporting fool.

        Enjoy it!

The time has come to “wipe” the establishment “off the political map.”

Lucretia Regina Potter has made some valid points on Craig Eaton dividing the Republicans, which is very serious and something should be done about it. United we stand, divided we fall.
