Détente With Democrats – Part 1: The Golden Prince
(From left to right: Assemblyman Alan Maisel, State Senator Marty Golden (aka “The Golden Prince”), Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, City Councilman Simcha Felder, City Councilman Domenic Recchia, former City Councilman candidate David Greenfield, Assemblyman Vito Lopez, and State Senator Carl Kruger.)
No, my friends, this picture is not photoshopped! That’s right. That’s a photo of our illustrious Republican State Senator…and the company he keeps.
At first, you might be startled to see The Golden Prince so close to so many Democrats. But, as Francisco first discussed with you all last week, the connections between Marty Golden and Democrats in our state are numerous and expansive.
We here at Atlas think the picture says it all…
Most of you have already read Francisco’s earlier piece: An Introduction — Détente With Democrats: The Golden Prince.
Francisco and I are currently examining the records of Sen. Marty Golden (whom Francisco calls “The Golden Prince”) and his connections with various Democrats in the state.
Francisco said in his introduction to this series:
While one sympathizes that times are tough for the GOP in New York, that is no excuse to enter into secret deals with Democrats at the expense of our fellow Republicans. Whether any deals have been made has yet to be demonstratively proven. I will be reporting more on the alleged deals and connections later on, but I noticed one particular donation from Friends of Marty Golden that got me angry the other day, and which introduced me to this topic.Visiting the Board of Election’s website, I was reading the numerous expenditures and donations given and received by Golden. The Golden Prince has give money to ESPADA FOR THE PEOPLE, $1000 just in the past year. That’s right. THE Pedro Espada. The hombre who helped hijack our state, flip-flopped like a pancake and embarrassed our government and our party in front a national audience. Pedro Espada the Democrat. What is going on here? Why does the Republican’s Golden Prince want to be involved with the Democrat’s craftiest Flip-Flopper-in-Chief?

What is going on here?
Why does the Republican’s Golden Prince want to be involved with the Democrat’s craftiest Flip-Flopper-in-Chief?
Now, low and behold, I found this gem of a photo on The Daily Politics. I frankly was stunned to see Marty Golden flanked by so many Democrats! It made me think even deeper about Francisco’s original thesis and wonder just what kind of deals are being made in this party.
Now, check out the photo above again. Notice anything about these particular Democrats?
Alan Maisel? Ran unopposed.
Simcha Felder? Ran before and is running unopposed.
Domenic Grecchia? Running unopposed.
Carl Kruger? Ran unopposed.
All of these Democrats have run unopposed by the Republican party in recent years. In fact, Alec Brook-Krasny, you might recall, was the gentleman current City Council candidate Bob Capano ran against in 2008. Very interesting to see them all together, especially given the fact that Marty has certainly given money to Democratic institutions and candidates over the course of his tenure as State Senator.
This highlights the rumors that have floated around about deals being made by The Golden Prince with various powerful Democrats to maintain control and power. It is no secret that the GOP has run weak candidates against strong Democrats (unfunded candidates, often).
And yet, Golden remains unchallenged. In fact, this photo was taken in 2007, merely months before he ran unopposed by the Democrats for a third time.
Query that one.
We hope the Senator is not doing anything that would tarnish or hurt the party. But if you are uncomfortable with his actions thus far, you can always contact Senator Golden at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 718-233-2537. Golden needs to stick with his own party!
Anything less frankly amounts to a betrayal.
Meanwhile, Francisco and I will be compiling the donation numbers for you. You can look forward to that in Part 2.
Until then, Shruggers.
Don’t forget to read Francisco’s earlier piece: Atlas Receives Transcript of The Duke’s Speech at County Committee Convention. It gives you the actual text of Eaton’s speech and Francisco’s usual glowing commentary.
