Fiorello LaGuardia Club Chairman Arnaldo Ferraro Announces Candidacy for Brooklyn GOP Chair

September 26, 2009

In a stunning development, Arnaldo Ferraro, Executive Chairman of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization and a giant in Republican politics for years, is now the first to openly and directly challenge The Duke of Bay Ridge, current Brooklyn GOP Chairman Craig Eaton, at this year’s County Committee Convention. The statement was made at www.laguardiarepublicanclub.org.

In a statement released on September 25th, Dr. Ferraro stated:

“As the former and last Republican Assemblyman in Brooklyn, I have decided to run for the Party position of Chairman of the Kings  County Republican  County Committee. As the former Vice-Chairman of the Brooklyn Republican Party, I  have worked with several County Chairmen, except the current one, Craig Eaton, who has chosen to keep me out of the activities of the Brooklyn Republican Party. I  have had 40 years of active participation in the political affairs of our borough.”

Ferraro, who (according to a verifiable source) has four times more experience than Chairman Eaton’s years as a registered Republican, goes on to outline his lengthy involvement in GOP politics here in Brooklyn:

“The most relevant instances of my  participation in affairs of our party are as follows: In 1984, when Chairman Fred Panteleone  chose me and targeted my Assembly race in the 49AD against an incumbent Democratic Assemblyman. I won that for our Party. In 1993, I was asked by the late Arthur Bramwell to run against the 49 AD District Leader, Robert DiCarlo, who was also the County Chairman. I  defeated DiCarlo who went on to be removed from his Chairmanship of the Party. Subsequently, when Arthur Bramwell resigned, I supported Hy Singer in his fight to become County Chairman.”

Dr. Ferraro then announces what we at Atlas have been reporting for months–that our party has fallen apart under The Duke:

“I can safely tell you that this is the worst our Party has ever been. Despite this, current Chairman Craig Eaton continues to push people like me, and so many of you, out of the Brooklyn Republican Party! And we continue to lose…. Now, I need your help and support in order to rescue our beleaguered Party and restore it to its glory days when the duly elected District Leaders had an impact in setting its goals and policy and were recognized as the true pillars and champions of the Republican Party.”

Thanks to the comment from FIORELLO LAGUARDIA REPUBLICAN ORGANIZATION on our site, which informed us of this astounding development.

John Galt will be evaluating Dr. Ferraro’s prospects this weekend, so BE SURE TO COME BACK TO ATLAS!

Dr. Arnaldo A. Ferraro is uniquely qualified to be the next Chairman of the Brooklyn Republican Party. At the helm Dr. Ferraro would help bring sweeping, positive, constructive changes to the Party. Moreover, morale among the rank and file members will improve immensely.

This is an opportunity to plant seeds in the Republican garden for a bountiful Brooklyn GOP harvest later on! It will be a major change from these dark days of mismanagement, unprofessionalism, aloofness, apathy and insensitivity as demonstrated by the current KCRP Chairman and other people that are part of this “flotsam and jetsam!”

    But he’s old…..He was first elected in 1984….That’s before I was born…
But I’ll still vote for him…He defiantly can’t be worse than Eaton…

I have a challenge for every Atlas Blogger and something which I think is a great idea…..we should all agree that whoever is the victor, we will support him or her by volunteering our time and efforts, joining a committee, attending meetings and being a productive part of the growth of the Brooklyn GOP.

    What do you think?

If the victor is Craig, I think the party as we once knew it will cease to exist. A once vibrant party, the Brooklyn GOP is already catatonic currently. We should not see this as a choice between equals. We should see this as a race for one of two futures: the opportunity for advancement, equality and reform–or the assurance of huge future losses, no positive growth, and continued atrophy and mismanagement. Dr. Ferraro brings promise; Craig brings failure.

The ONLY option in this race is to NOT vote for Craig Eaton. I think county committee members are beginning to realize that nothing substantively good has transpired over the course of the past few years and the party has not capitalized on any investments it has made.

This blog has demonstrated that unequivocally, and Atlas Shrugs has done our borough and our party a tremendous service in the process. Thank you!

We need to understand the realities of life, my friends. The sun is setting on the Brooklyn GOP. I think our only hope is look to a new horizon for a new course of leadership. Dr. Ferraro could be the sunrise we’ve all been looking for.

Dr. Ferraro is a distinguished public servant who has served his borough and his state well. An immigrant, Dr. Ferraro is an inspiration to so many of us in this city that see the United States as a beacon of hope and freedom for all Americans. He is an honorable man, and may God bless him in his quest.

Dr. Ferraro? His doctorate was obtained through a mail-order diploma mill.
