The Cannibalism of Brooklyn GOP Consultants

September 5, 2009

Recent details have come to light of the vile dog-eat-dog tactics currently being employed by Kings County’s GOP consultant mavens.

The Daily News has reported that Dr. Jeffrey Kraus, Chair of the NYC Voter Assistance Commission and long-time courtier of The Golden Prince, State Senator Marty Golden, publicly slandered Republican candidate for Public Advocate Alex Zablocki on YouTube.

Apparently, Jeff Kraus, a Professor at Wagner College in Staten Island, commented on Mr. Zablocki’s online voter guide video page that Mr. Zablocki was “a jerk.” Perhaps this is not so unexpected given Mr. Kraus is a Democrat.

Within hours of the article’s release, Mr. Zablocki’s video featured a new comment by a mysterious BigEShellback86: “What a f****** JERK !” (expletive deleted).

Hmm…

Regardless of his political affiliation, the “jerk” comment is important to Brooklyn Republicans given the very interesting GOP connections Dr. Kraus has had over the years.

“Friends of Martin Golden” has given Dr. Kraus over $57,000 over the years The Golden Prince has been a State Senator, and over $33,500 while The Golden Prince was a mere squire City Councilman. Embattled 39th City Council District GOP candidate George Smith is also indebted to Dr. Kraus for “outstanding liabilities.” Dr. Kraus has even waved his wand for Democratic City Councilman Simcha Felder for over $18,000 in 2005, the year Mr. Felder ran unopposed and received the Republican line.

Fascinating.

This all begs the question: why would our party be involved with someone like Kraus? His actions are indicative of the dizzying conflicts of interest and inappropriate conduct on the part of GOP consultants in Brooklyn.

For example, we know—and have documented on Atlas Shrugs—that Political Warlock Gerry O’Brien has also worked for Democrats in the past, among other things. But that’s apparently fine with the establishment. The party organization continues to provide him large amounts of consulting work in spite of the growing controversy surrounding Mr. O’Brien. Even current 43rd City Council District candidate Bob Capano has invited Warlock Gerry O’Brien to be his Jafar.

These consultants—like it or not—are paid public figures that are representing our party by their actions. Anyone can look to the public records and see the money trail connecting them to our party, its candidates and politicians. When they do bad things, it reflects poorly on our entire county organization.

The Kings County GOP has some serious questions to answer about the persons it and its candidates employ. How do we intend to lead the way to reform if we allow in-fighting and controversy to fester in our county?

The party in fighting must be cleansed or the in fighters must go. One or the other.

Until next week, Shruggers.

    How fascinating that there is no mention of Young Republican President Jonathan Judge’s Democratic patronage job with Community Board 14 in Brooklyn.

    Community Boards are one of the last bastions of clubhouse Democratic patronage in the city. It’s highly unusual that any registered Republican — least of all the President of the borough’s YRs — would receive such a position.

    Equally unusual is Judge’s recent appointment to the Bay Ridge Community Council, where he has forged an unholy alliance with Democratic City Councilman Vincent Gentile.

    The Democratic patronage job and the alliance with Gentile goes a long way in explaining Judge’s continuous public bashing of Republicans like City Council Candidate Bob Capano and Senator Marty Golden.

    Of particular note was an “analysis” by Judge of Capano’s chances of defeating Gentile, which was posted on the Urban Elephants blog mere hours before Capano’s public announcement of his candidacy. Judge attempted to paint Capano’s campaign as stillborn; this treachery was clearly designed and planned in advance to ambush Capano as he was kicking off his campaign.

    If this blog is going to even attempt to appear evenhanded, the Jonathan Judge story needs to be told. To ignore his attacks on fellow Republicans, using his YR position, would be a disgrace.

    About time somebody started talking about the cancer growing in the Brooklyn YRs.

    This young man (24 I think), who has been involved in politics less than four years, fancies himself an expert political operative, and is determined to show off whenever possible.

    The YouTube video of him at one of the Tea Parties earlier this year is hilarious.

    To respond to Hal Jordan’s comment, my article was meant to discuss political consultants, which I believe Mr. Judge is not. I have not seen any evidence that he is one, so I do not understand the criticism. But please feel free to email me (AtlasShrugsInBrooklyn@gmail.com) and/or comment about anything you know about Mr. Judge so that it may be evaluated.

    All you need to know about Jonathan is his ego. Pure, unadulterated, naked ego.

    Not surprised to learn Jonathan is secretly work for the Dems. That explains why he is always finding fault with fellow Republicans and attacking them.

    What he did to Capano (his friend, mentor, and predecessor as YR Pres) is unprecedented. That seat has been Republican for most of the past 40 years, and for Judge to conspire with Gentile to damage Capano’s Republican campaign is beyond treason.

    I don’t know how a post about GOP consultants suddenly has become a post about Jonathan Judge. Let me tell Hal, Allan, Guy, and Carol something (assuming you’re all not the same person–perhaps a named GOP consultant????? ;-)): Jonathan Judge is the finest young star our party has right now. He is down to earth, intelligent, and would blow all of these these other crooks out of the water. I’ve seen him at countless GOP events for all different kinds of candidates. Why isn’t our party encouraging more bright people like him than these patronage cowards. Shame!

    Oooh, lots of action on Atlas on a beautiful Labor Day weekend? I had to tune in on my smart phone from the beach!

    I see the GOP crooks are blog commenting today instead of spending the day outside in this weather! Can’t say I’m surprised. This swan song needs to end. It’s becoming pathetic.

    As for the actual SUBSTANCE of this post, Franky, witty and smart as always, darling. These fools are gonna sit and spin. Kiss kiss!

    The only patronage coward is Jonathan. He’s been working for the Democrats and attacking Republicans. Isn’t there something in the YR charter we can use to rid ourselves of this armchair activist?

    Eli, you’re so sad. You’re the armchair activist, albeit a bad one. So far you’ve whined about Judge but provided no evidence about him. I just googled him: nothing I didn’t already know. Pretty impressive stuff for a guy his age. I’ve met him before, and I’ll just say you guys don’t know what you’re talking about. Sad.

    Meanwhile, Francisco has provided an article full of numbers and facts about some genuine GOP losers.

    The only thing Judge has done wrong is keep loyal to the party. He’s previously praised The Duke Craig Eaton, as the article below indicates. He needs to see the light on that. Otherwise, I don’t see anything he’s done wrong. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to get a clue.

    http://blog.silive.com/politics/2007/06/connecting_with_brooklyn.html

    In 2007 Chairman Eaton told The Staten Island Advance that “Brooklyn Republicans are online, and we are using the Internet to build a real grassroots organization, not just to raise money and send e-mail,” said Eaton.

    Staten Island shares congressional, state Senate, Assembly and City Council districts with Brooklyn.

    According to an e-mail we got from the party, the new site is aggressively seeking Republican voters in the borough to join the county committee, “the block-level core of the Party infrastructure.”

    The Brooklyn GOP web site is full of old, dated information on it. With all the money Mr. Eaton spent on assorted crap, why isn’t there anyone updating brooklyngop.com ?
    The web site is STILL advertising this year’s Lincoln Dinner, which was held at El Cribe in Mill Basin, Brooklyn on Thursday, May 28, 2009 and had a video greeting from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger ! I was at that event, by the way.

    The Brooklyn GOP web site STILL has a link to disgraced former Congressman Vito J. Fossella, who is an embarrassment for the 13th Congressional District. Fossella is a disgrace! Disgrazia!

    Web site updates may seem trivial or petty to some, but it does illustrate how the Brooklyn GOP is being mismanaged. Web technology and the Internet are important ways to connect to the masses – to get the message out and also to encourage newcomers to the Party. Either use it or lose it.

    The KCRP chair has a lot on his plate! Busy lawyer to numerous clients of the firm which entails research, court dates, conferences, endless work related meetings and phone calls

    …..PLUS being county party chairperson of one of the two major parties which necessitates frequent interviews and public references in the news media promoting Bloomie, Rudy and Ed Cox……

    Including the normal, customary obligations of being a family man with a wife and children……

    All of you Bloggers seem to have a lot to say, but what all of us are not hearing or seeing, is:

    a) what have you done for the GOP ever;
    b) what have you done for the GOP lately;
    c) what have you contributed to the GOP;
    d) what volunteer work you have ever done for the GOP;
    e) what volunteer work you have ever done for a local candidate.

    My guess is the answer to all of these is: Nothing

    You see, it is better to work and help, than to just sit back and complain. Get involved and maybe, if you are all so wise and intelligent as you profess to be, then maybe you can make a difference.

    Therefore, as a neutral observer, maybe you shoul get involved-I mean really get involved. Not just by criticizing but actually using that time (not wasting it) by trying to make it all better.

    But I guess that is not something you re

    I want to respond directly to “NEUTRAL OBSERVER.” You hypocritically criticize those on this blog legitimately critiquing and pointing out the problems in our party. Many of us have tried to work with the people in our party causing problems. Some of us, I’m sure, have worked FOR the people causing the problems in our party. Your foolish claim that we should “work and help” would just have us blindly follow these leaders on a hope that somehow things will change.

    Basically, Neutral Observer’s comments boil down to this: The Titanic wouldn’t have sunk if the bus boys in the dining room were cleaning the tables better….No no no. The Captain and his crew are in charge of steering this vessel.

    What we need to prevent this party from hitting the iceberg is a mutiny. A change in the leadership is entirely necessary. The bus boys see the iceberg, but the leaders say “stay the course.” I say its time for a new crew.

    BROOKLYN GRASS-ROOTS REPUBLICANS TO COUNTY CHAIRMAN EATON: WIN A COUNTY RACE ON NOVEMBER 3rd OR STEP ASIDE NOVEMBER 4th.

    We need to get word out to mainstream media that Eaton is on notice and a mutiny is growing in Brooklyn. We have to have other people out there to lead who have won in past, or who will focus on winning in future rather than their own ego. Another year of more of the same is not an option. Let’s spread the word to other blogs and media- Eaton has to go on November 4th when once again Brooklyn has no victories because of no quality candidates that were recruited, and no organized County efforts! We need action- look at New York Republican Committee in Manhattan- they recruit, act, fully support their candidates, and hold open forums.

    Eaton Confident Giuliani and Cox Could Get Along If They Had To.

    http://www.politickerny.com/5100/eaton-confident-giuliani-and-cox-could-get-along-if-they-had#comments

    These questions are fair and valid to ask. Transparency and clarity may put these inquiries to rest. There is nothing wrong with asking questions. Asking questions, reflecting and speculating doesn’t mean anything has been proven.

    Hypothetically speaking, if Chairman Eaton was an M.D. (Medical Doctor), a family practice Primary Care Physician, with a subspecialty in Proctology, and he and his medical practice partner/associate, let’s say a Urologist specializing in male impotence or Erectile Dysfunction (E.D.), would it be okay, fine and dandy for the Chairman to have the KCRP offices/headquarters located within his group medical practice? Would that seem bizarre? Would it be o’kay for the phlebotomist to perform administrative functions and make telephone calls for the county GOP organization in between patient appointments or in between drawing blood?

    Likewise, hypothetically speaking, if Chairman Eaton was a Halal butcher by trade, would it be dandy and proper for the Brooklyn GOP HQ/offices to be located within the Halal meat market/store, which would be a business, profit making entity/service?
    So how does it differ if one is a lawyer, or a doctor….. Or a butcher….and coexist together (political party – and business or profit making entity) within the same space, under the same roof?

You, the Kings County GOP, and many others have paid Gerry O’Brien for his evil services. In the process, he has learned your Achilles heel. Beware! Beware! The evil one O’Brien will get you, too!
